The Beetle is a 1966 and not 1962 as mentioned by mistake.

I am not aware of the exact stage the car is in. All I know is it is under restoration at Indore and is expected to be ready by Dec,09. In case I get some pictures, I shall definitely share them.

well look at it this way. If you are able to afford the price asked then you qualify as a good home.

If the prices were low then someone living in a not so good home might end up buying the car.

I saw a similar red colour car in Mapusa Goa (Garage is behind the police station). The mech told me it is not for sale and there for engine (Diesel) overhauling. It is lying there for last 4 months. Thinking of quoting for it when I visit Goa mid of this month. Any idea what price I should be quoting? Car has minor rust and in one piece.

THe key is to buy on condition. I could buy a shed for 1 Lakh and spend 3 lakhs on parts and labour to bring it upto a standard or buy this original beauty with some negotiation.

Which route is easier and takes less time ?

Agreed the VW is overpriced. If it was totally original, might be worth a look
