I sold mine totally restored (w/out hub caps.. LOL still hunting for those) for 1.2 lakhs.

This classic car business has gone beyond the means of genuine enthusiasts and is now a rich man's domain.

Its all bullshit just wait these prices are bubcus. Keep track of it the same guy will come down to say 1.5 lacs, i must tell you thresholds have increased as we enter a new cycle which is the case every 7 or so, splits were going for 30 to 50 k unrestored between late 90's and early 2000

By the way I can get you bay window type car.

Wow a bay window in my building sold for 20K about 5 yrs ago. That too after the owner begged and pleaded to have it taken away.

Definitely not, some guys are trying to make it appear that way, but they are not going to succeed, if genuine enthusiasts are patient and dont fall into the dragnet.

I have a feeling that you have not seen the car properly.
It is a 108, not a 114/115. There are certainly not many of these cars available. The important question is: does she still have the original engine + gearbox? If yes, then one should consider to buy this project. She is not too far gone. Now important is the price. Probably registered in compnay name, double tax, so tax bill can be huge. So, what is the price? There was one available in Delhi, rusty, partially dismantled and asking was 10L. That was tooooo much, but if the price is good go in for this. What say, V16?

Oh, what are you saying? You sold your Baywindow for 1.2L? When was that? Hopefully you used the proceeds to upgrade.
I bought my MG for 12K, today you cannot find one for 20L! But don't ask when that was.
Fact of the matteris, VW Vans are going out of the country. When I came to know, I grabbed a split screen. Now Splitscreens are hardly available. And Baywindows are going the same way. If you want one, the grab it. Do not wait for the price to fall, it is only going up.
I have seen at one time 6 Vans bashed up in movies in a lot in Goregaon. Have also seen them being scrapped in Chor Bazar. Today an unrestored Baywindow for a reasonable 1.0L is hardly achievable.

Rightly said Harit Sir,

Could'nt agree less. Its better we pick up these rare species before they become extinct.

Me and my friend know the pain how we got my Baywindow and his Split Bus.

Its not easy and almost impossible to get hold of Buses nowadays.

If there are available, kindly post the details here, i am ready for one more

Sold it last week after a lot of thought.

I recovered the cost of buying it + restoration cost. Nothing more.

I am not into it for money. If I had to go down that route, i could have horded all of the VWs and other marques available in Goa. Presently some people are doing it and I feel i have had enough of the sheer lack of etiquette, trust and self respect in this hobby.

Oh and another splitscreen i had went for less then a lakh, Should be about a year back. Which presently if i understand from known sources is being quoted at 10 lakhs. Same exact condition it was in.

No regrets and i hope all those in this business generate a sense of pride and love for what they are doing. There are only a few i have seen who are genuine and would really like to see them get their hands on what their looking for. And no surprises that each one of them is on this forum.

I understand its all money but not for me.

Might sound a bit cliched but it isnt. I am out of this now and moving towards offroading which i had neglected for quite sometime. Time to get that Classic to Bangalore.

Oh sorry Girish, but i didnt put it up on classifieds on here.

It was not put up for sale per se. So no advertisements anywhere. Since it was lying unused for sometime and we have a problem due to parking space. We thought of selling it. The Classic stays parked at my friends place anyways and we have 2 cars and 4 bikes at our house in Goa. We stay in a colony of buildings where space is a premium.

I travel a lot due to my job and it was getting a bit difficult to keep asking my friend to look after it.

My dad dosent understand the junk i pick up anyways

I think what spitfire, Ajay, I and others are saying is everything needs to be within reasonable limits if not it never sustains becasue extremes have 2 ends and if you have lived long enough you see both. so 3 lacs and 30k for split and 10 lacs for W108 or 10k are both extremes.

Sellers and owner will always talk scarcity an age old frame of mind. Fact is every dog has his day the patient one achieves things in reasonable parameters, currently as they say we are in a tried bull run phase as far as vintage/classics go the art market had this going 8 months ago now it is all quiet wait some time reasonable prices will come about and before any of the other guru's out here jump reasonable is anything from 1 lac to 1.5 for a bay window and I checked with another VW guru he can get me one for much below if he wants to and puts his mind to it.

By the way kadamji i meant car in a loose way, please dont go around correcting people without knowing backrounds say for example that door handle on your bug.
