Door glass seems to have been stuck midway.

This car was owned by the late Mr.B.Nagi Reddy of the famous Vijaya Productions, Vijaya Studios. One of the early heralds, original shade was Litchfield green and Sebring white. It used to be an immaculate car, but in this avatar she seems to be canibalised.

Do you know if it has the original black dash with the large Jaeger Speedo as per the early Heralds?

Re: Standard cars in India

This is a '64 mk1 Standard Herald, owned by a new facebook friend in Madras.
He said his father owned three Heralds at one point, including this one; all used as Janavaasam (Baraat) cars on hire for weddings. Hence the rather-um- unusual way of mounting the rear seat. Then two of them were eventually sold, this one being the only one retained. He now wants to restore this car. Unfortunately it's lost its roof, which was discarded when the car was first converted into a wedding car (it was also quite rusted I'm told). No chance of finding another now. He says it runs really fine, though he didnt mention his source for spares when needed.

Continuing on the discussion on this car, does it bear the number MSW 6009?
An early Herald with this regn. (assuming it wasnt a fake one) was used in "topless" form in the 1962 Telugu movie "Gundamma Katha" which was produced by Mr. Nagi Reddy under the Vijaya Studios banner. The car was driven throughout by N T Rama Rao in the movie.
I now wonder if this could have been the same car that belonged to Mr. Nagi Reddy, then in the Litchfield Green and white combo? Though it is difficult to tell what colour the movie car was, in a B & W movie.

Spotted this Standard/Triumph Herald today at Dadar East.
Standard and Triumph badges on the car left me dumbstruck as to what model it exactly is.(Unless some collaboration took place and I am not aware of it)
Experts,what are your views??

Haha, Standard and Triumph badges together is like Land Cruisers in Mumbai bearing both Lexus and Toyota badges!

AFAIK, Standards were badge engineered Triumphs, or manufactured under license.

Nothing collaborated here. Just a Standard Herald fitted with Triumph badges, from what I can see, and a heavily modified front grille and 118NE wheels + hubcaps!
Incidentally, tis an early Herald, going by the bonnet vent design.
The roof has also been taken off. Hope they fit it back before your monsoons!

This car was earlier in Nashik and was relatively more 'complete' as it had the roof on atleast, and even the side-trims intact. twas painted a metallic blue at one point and then a darker shade of red. (due to some reason, am unable to attach any pics. at the moment!) 'got to know about it thru a friend, who said it had been made 'topless' and sold.

This car has been listed on olx and that's where the pictures are from too,
Why not mention the source of images and " where you found them " when posting pictures.
