Why do you call it old? This was the latest model launched in 1982 at the time of Asiad.

This advertisement appeared in the early 1950's in a WIAA magazine.
The photo is British though, but this model was sold in India, na? Where did the driver sit after loading all this luggage? Perhaps Karl and Stanher can help in experimentation.
Apparently luggage was loaded by folding the back rest of the rear seats, just like in pre-war 170V's. Surely will be water and dust proof as long as the tin lasts. LOL.

Was shared by a facebook friend from Madras- an ad for the Standard Herald found in a book/magazine, probably when it had been newly introduced in India, in Tamil!

Funnily though, I understand that it says "Chennai" here as opposed to Madras!

Do seniors remember what colour the engine block was in Heralds in India? I need to paint my engine block and ancillaries. The chassis, drums, suspension components I believe should be all black. I think also the tappet cover and air cleaner. But what about the block itself?

Karl, as far as I recall our Mark II, the block was not painted. It had the typical cast Iorn colour, whilst bell housing had the bright shiny alloy colour.

The Oil Sump was metal finish and not painted

Tapet Cover and Air Cleaner was Black - so was the fan

An early Standard Herald mk1 in Kerala, posted on a facebook group.

Car still retains the 'duotone' colour scheme; however, the parking lights are of Fiat, and the bumpers have been modified in their shape by a local tinker. Plus of course the various add-ons on an otherwise fairly original car.

I heard that MRF still makes the 5.60-13 size X-ply tyres but have not verified this as yet. You could try confirming from an MRF dealer at your place.

Was wondering whether import of tyres are allowed because I remember reading somewhere that importing tyres has been banned,though I am not very sure.Meanwhile taking Stanher's advice and will check with MRF.
Mr Ananth I would be really grateful if you could clarify about importing tyres.

I doubt the X-ply tyres are still made in India. Unless some CEAT or MRF dealer has in stock but that would anyways be old. If all fails, you will readily get 155/80R13 Radials off-the-shelf.
