The car had been sent to Yavatmal then. Nothing is heard ever since.

Wow! A Companion! A really rare car, particularly since it was built only for the 1962 model year.

Where exactly in ShankarSeth road was this? I mean do you exactly recall which bylane?

I'll surely have to check out this place!

To be honest, the other two cars interest me. Particularly the Herald MK-1.
Was it registered "MHP" something?

A battered red MK-1 Herald has been spotted multiple times, near the Fergusson college. Also on J.M road, twice.

And the Millecento (Notice that I'm abstaining from using the word DUKKAR).

Sniff! Its got the original, characteristic anda taillamp. Are you aware of the registration of this one as well?

BYH something? I can recall a fleeting glance at a greyish BYH registered Millecento, somewhere in Poona, circa 2012, with a period "Casting" type plates. I wonder if this is the one.

And Poona folks- Anyone seen BYH/2140, 1956/57 Plymouth Savoy around? She was in Black, I recall, as of circa 2008/9. Last seen in a garage off Senapati Bapat road, or F.C road, or even Apte road.

Karl can vouch for the presence of the car. Question is..Where is she?

Nice to see this companion resurface after many years! Our tbhpian karlosdeville knows this car quite well (who'd sent me these pics. of the same car earlier, before the then owner sold it) and could throw more light on it! Maybe even the Herald!

PS: Any pics. of the latter?

Was it this one by any chance?

In India the Standard Companion was the station wagon version of the Standard Pennant, though less luxuriously appointed. The car was with the first owners till not too long ago, then came up for sale, and has been parked at this spot since. The black Fiat is BML regd, and has been there for a long time. The red Herald with black roof is either KA 25 regd or MHP regd. It is not the car in Shyam's pics.

Oh! Stanher you're a gem!

It IS MHP something! Where was this spotted?

I cannot really confirm if this is really the car I was talking about. Incredible likeness!

Perhaps there are twin Heralds running about in town! Just like two twin 1972 1100Ds move about in Nagpore.

Any further information on the Millecento, by any chance?

I recall a BYH regd one, in a similar shade with a period Casting type plates. Only issue is that it was seen by me while cycling around town, in the rush hours.

I just had a look at the plates. So, I cannot really confirm if it was a Millecento. Could be an Elegant, perhaps.

Poona folks: Anyone seen BYH/2140, a most interesting 1956/57 Plymouth Savoy about?

We seem to have lost track of her.

A blue Heckflosse was also seen in town. No further info, apart from the fact that it was a post 1963 make.

The W111 always remains elusive to me!

The one in my pics. was not with reference to the red with Black roof Herald, but the "battered red mk1" that Fintail had mentioned.

Add a possiblity of this car on "MHP" Plates. Any clue to where exactly she has been seen in Poona?

In this case, I conclude that NOT one, but two "MHP" registered Heralds are buzzing about town.

Both being red & battered. MK-1s. Interesting.

Well, two cars actually improves our situation, does it not!? Particularly after what I've endured hunting down classics all over Poona.

Dogbites! et al.

This is a small lane just before the amway office on shankar seth road, my uncle's office is just 10 mts away from the place these cars are parked and i was really intrigued by the Millecento (yes i know the name as well but its just that hearing the word dukkar over and over the years by my grandfather and other realtives has just made it register in the brain ) and later saw the companion and herald parked behind.

Shyam,

I saw this car in Trivandrum last week. It was on a "Recovery Truck" presumably on its way to the restorer/workshop.

There is heavy corrosion but doable as the structure is still erect and holding. Wish your FB friend all the best.

Best Regards & Drive Safe

Ram

Hi Ram,
So you're back in Kerala now? Well, the car doesn't belong to him but someone else. He just took the pics.
