) Twas then painted yellow and white with black rims! And had some local political party leader's image with a party slogan painted on the bootlid!

Had the whitewall tyres then too though!

What nostalgic pics!
ORWO Films was a big deal when we were growing up in the 1970's. Always Black and White and mostly 35mm reels.

Those Standard vans which are depicted in these pics were a common sight in Madras and Coimbatore as also Anamallais and Munnar when we were small - they used to be used mostly as commercial vehicles, somewhat in the manner that the Tata Magic and Mahindra covered mini vans are these days. After that Standard Van, in my memory there were only those huge old Matador vans for many years, until the Maruti 800 Van came along...
