In some post of the past we have talked about Borgward and I mentioned a truck. Here she is, a Borgward truck that was auctioned at the auction house opposite Lions Gate. She went for around 40K, this was in 1988. Purchasers were some foreigners, now no clue as to where this truck has gone. Would have made a lovely off-roader.
This thread had gone very far back, a chance to bring this thread forward.

Cheers Harit

Maybe so, but it is still Borgward. See below a pic and a brief write-up for further info.
Cheers harit

B 2000 A/O ( A=Allrad, O=Ottomotor ) (1955 - 1961) and (1962 - 1968 B
The B 2000 A/O is a model with which Borgward went in competition with the other German truck factories to deliver a truck that could be used by the Bundeswehr (land-forces). These vehicles which had a four-wheel drive, where made in great numbers. This truck was powered by a six cylinder petrol engine of 2337 cc. (from 1960 2224 cc.) with 82 bhp. It was manly delivered as a truck which could transport men, a small part of the production was made with only a cabin. These trucks could later be provided with several constructions such as a break-down lorry, kitchen truck or command car. After Borgward went bankrupt in 1961 Bussing took over the factory and the truck was made there until 1968, only without the Borgward emblem.

Saw this nice little van at Nashik yesterday.. Looks like some kind of a Ford ? The way it was parked, it was impossible to get a snap of the front end. It's been here for quite a while, as I saw it last at the same place six months ago.

This is a British Bedford Van with sliding doors. Quite a few came to India, some were UNICEF vehicles. Till recently one was rotting in Pune too. This Nashik car has been lying around since atleast 10 years, it used to be lying near the place where the Mumbai - Nashik cabs stand. About 6 years ago it was blue and also unfinished like this.
BTW, what were you doing in Nashik?

Cheers harit

I presume you refer to a white one (MHJ regn.) in the compound of a large garage at East street? It was an ex-UNICEF van too...Karl had uploaded pics. of it here (in another thread) too I guess. It was half-sunk into the mud there when I'd seen it in Pune 3 years ago!
Pity if it had been scrapped!

I used to see one of these parked in the compound of Cama Hospital near Xavier College. This was in 1993/94. It was in Good condition that time. Does anybody know what happened to it ??

There were (at least) 2 similar vans that I knew of, one was the white MHJ at East Street, still with Unicef logo and auction lot number hand painted on one side. It came 100% complete, intact, in great condition. Untouched since then, it has gone into the ground and deteriorated to the point of practically no return. A shame. I suppose it still stands there, practically 6 feet under!

Pics here

http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/637998-post1.html

The other one was MHC regd, grey and black, perfect condition, nothing missing, no work required, but looked like it was standing for a while. It shared room with a dicky seat Model A, cut door Austin, some Austin 7s, a couple of Flying Standards, a Triumph Mayflower, a Herald, a Dolphin, Renault Juvaquatre and more assorted junk, all in various states of disrepair. Someone told me the Bedford was scrapped.

For those of you who (like me!) thought that the Jeep minitruck/minibus was a Mahindra product!
