Boss kindly refrain from such remarks, this is an internationally accesable forum and some may take offence to this. The proper manner to address this would have been to refer to the gemtleman as a "coloured GI". I personally would have dropped the reference to race or colour totally.

BTW what happened to pics of the Willys Wagon you promised to get the next time you visited Sir UBS and his collection.

My extreme apologies to you as well as all members accessing this thread. I was typing out that story in line with the way I was told the story! Should have been more careful with the wordings. Mods, please change the text if you feel the same way.

Now, coming back to automobile topics, I havent visited UBS as yet. But the promise to get more details still holds!

I did not know that the Burmese king had cars in Ratnagiri. Shall do some research.
The poor king was exiled to Ratnagiri by the British. They dumped him and his family over there. Some of their wealth was also given to them. These poor fellows were totally at sea on their own, exchanging their jewelry for vegetables. They had no idea how to live independantly. Soon they were poor. There are still descendants over there.

TATA-BENZ Lorry

I am seeing old(20-30 years) TATA-BENZ Buses and Lorries used by driving schools here.None of them have a leyland One though.
Here is One TATA-BENZ Lorry Which is 34 years old(1975).This driving school got 2-3 of this same lorries and buses. The Old TATA Bus looks very small compared to current buses.I will try to get a snap of the buses as well.

The Tata-Mercedes Benz bus is also being used by St. Mary High School, Bandra I think so. It regularky used to pass from front of my building less than a year ago.
A dark blue colored beauty with something MRW ---- registration I think..
The name of school is also written on it in a white color.

Attached is a pic of a Tata truck. This was taken in the beginning of MAy in Agra. This is how these vehicles are chewed out, overloaded and badly maintained. It is on the wrong side of the road, because the other side is lower and there was a height gauge preventing him from going through his side. Naturally a traffic jam was created. And our car was stuck, we were trying to pull over to the left side. A local came and threatened to beat up the driver. Somehow traffic moved and the matter did not progress. That is Agra for you, India's number one tourist destination.
Enjoy the picture.
This should be my post 500!

Unidentified bus?

I saw this bus yesterday. 'can't make out what make it is, but guessing it's a Leyland?

'seems to be part of some govt. auction, I can see it belonged to some govt. medical college?

Its not at all a leyland Bus, see 4-spoke steering & also wheel rims.
As per the wheel rims, it seems to be a old Bedford, try to get some pics of instrument pannel & wheel rims if possible. It will clear our doubts.
See the pics of old Bedford J4 uploaded by me & also see the rims & steering on it.
