Tata trucks were just 1210 until the fuel injection system was changed from "indirect injection", i.e. fuel being squirted into a pre-combustion chamber above the piston (Ricardo system), to "direct injection" where the fuel was injected into a bowl-shaped depression on the piston crown, i.e directly into the cylinder instead of into a pre-combustion chamber.

This improved power slightly and also gave better fuel combustion.

The direct injection engine truck was named 1210D.

A lovely photo of a pair of Royal Enfield 3 wheelers, I assume based on the Bullet. While the description says Madras Motors showroom, one machine is Bombay registered.

The image appears in a book on Royal Enfield's Indian operations, but unfortunately I do not remember the name.
