This is a beautiful ad! Ride the lambys instead of the horses.

More Tata adverts

Hello All,

Couple more from Tata

The one with the "Yoda" style copy -"Money Makers .. Both" - is from RD 1956

The other one talking about Jute Industry is from RD 1961. Wonder howmuch INR 115 Crores would be worth in todays terms?

Best Regards & Drive/Ride Safe

Grandpa Loves the Wind in his hair !

Hi All.

This is an advert for TVS 50 from 1986.

I really love this on as with the Copy and the Picture it makes real hillarious combination.

Funny thing is I know a case where real life imitated this advert. In 1986, my uncle - who was at that time about 72 - went in and bought a TVS 50. He used it exactly for 3 days before his grandson hijacked the bike lock stock and barrel to another town in India.

Best Regards & Drive/Ride Safe

Ram

With the help of a friend I was recently able to obtain a July 1953 issue of the 'Automobile Magazine of India', published by the WIAA. Would you believe I had to buy it from Holland?

The Classic Advertisement/Brochure Thread-001.jpg

It contains some interesting insight into motoring in the 1950s, and some neat ads and a road test for the Singer SM 1500.

Here are an assortment of ads.

Nice to see about Fiat 1400, were these 1400 complete built up units of Assemble in India and is there any one surviving in India.

A lovely period brochure/ad photo of a mk1 Herald advertised on ebay by a US(!) website:

1964 1965 Standard Herald Factory Photo India on eBay (end time 24-Jun-10 02:04:29 BST)

I really am not sure if Heralds in India ever came in this shade of blue though. AFAIK, powder (sky-ish) blue was the only shade of blue they were available in, the early mk1s being available in a darker (Winchester) blue but with white as a 2-tone combo, not single/monotone.

JONGA Brochures

Here are the brochures of JONGA that VFJ (Vehicle Factory, Jabalpur) used to sell to civilians & they are only made to order. As per the available information only 100 of these kind of vehicles were sold.

There are two generation of the Jonga one the bluish green the older version and the second the more squarish ones which they tried to come out in the 90's (I was thinking of their dealership then ). Which one do you say were sold in only 100 numbers. I think the second ones were never sold subjected to correction.

@ Manish,
No Manish, the 2nd JONGA that has been shown if brochure is being sold in India, mainly in Madhya Pradesh as VFJ (Vehicle Factory' Jabalpur) is located there & as per the available information on Wikipedia, only 100 civilian versions were sold.
