Anjan,

They were "progressively manufactured by PAL" not only "marketed".

See the attached re post of an advert I had posted before

America's 1st Fine Economy Car

Talking of Dodge

See the attached advertisement for Dodge Dart from April 1960s

(The scan is croped as the bottom portion of the page was moth eaten. In that portion the catch line I have put as caption of this post was there)

How does "Fine" and "Economy" go hand in hand?

The Car lloks lovely, to say the least.

Features:
  • 118" Wheel base (boy its really long !)
  • Economy Slant "6" Engine (a 6 cylinder was economy then!)
  • 400 zip-filled miles on a tankful (wonder what that tankful was 80 ltr?)
  • Big wide opening doors
  • Seats as high and wide as a sofa
That was some era then!

Enjoy a looking at a nice automobile's picture!

Best Regards & Drive/Ride Safe

It is our very own Sipani Dolphin, nee Reliant Kitten of UK! My very first (used) car! A terrific city runabout with an FRP body. The bonnet is hinged near the radiator grille and will open from the windshield side, like a manhole cover!

God, how I miss her! Had to get rid of her in the mid nineties as parts were getting extremely scarce.

Hello Guys

Today I was watching TV with my son (that is my excuse) and in the DisneyX Channel, there was an advert of Maggi Tomato Ketchup featuring Javed Jeffry of the Boogie Woogie fame.

In that advert - I think I saw a Dodge Dart being used. What caught my attention first was the colour of the car, which was exactly same as the one in the Advertisement copy I had posted

Any of you have seen it ? If so do you think the car in the film exists or is it digitally created?

If it exisists in India its pictures could be good addition to our classic car threads

Best Regards & Drive/Ride Safe

Probably what you saw must have been Harit's Dodge Custom Royal. What say?

I am not too sure! I just had a fleeting look at the advert. I will look out for this advert again.

Colour for one was much more greenish in the advert. Also I think it was tourer.

Unless Harit himself can confirm I think this is not the car

Best Regards

Ram

Shyam,

Thanks

You are spot on! As I had mentioned I saw the advert only in passing. The Rear wings and the colour was what caught my attention.

By the way is this Car really around.

Any pictures of it in the TBHP

Best Regards & Drive/Ride Safe

The car is in Bombay, and features the rare 'Panoramic' rear windscreen. It is regularly seen in photo shoots for ads and movies, most recently being featured in 'Once upon a time in Mumbai'. Unfortunately no photos on the forum.

This 1960 Chevy was a much loved car lying in an apartment building opposite the petrol pump on Nepean Sea Road. For some reason stopped being used. Then one day she landed up with an "Engineer" at Warden Road. From there sold for a fancy sum at that time to Borivali, that owner has another red convertible too. And gives his cars for shoots. Nice car indeed.

Cheers harit

Next to it there used to be a Standard Companion

I often asked old man Dass to sell me some parts from the Companion but I always got the same reply - "It is a customer's car - how can I remove anything from his car?"

And you mention there was one in your school - coincidentally one Hillman Husky wagon was in my school too - a light green, later painted metallic bright green, I think it was registered MZE 6131. Last saw it in the 1990s.
