| ![]() I had seen an advertisement sometime last year where Mercedes had congratulated BMW on their centenary. If I remember right, it said something like, "Thank you for the 100 years of competition. It was boring for the first 30 years", meaning, we are 30 years older than you : ) The advertisement was kind of simple; a classic BMW grill and the Mercedes 3 pointed star on a black background. |

Distinguished - BHPian ![]() | ![]() I had to dig around my book shelves and files a bit, but I found it at long last. Many, many years ago I bought an USA Alfa Romeo 1986 Press information package on Ebay. It contained the announcement made by USA Alfa Romeo on the GTV and the Alfa Romeo Spider in three different versions. The most basic, Graduate. The intermediate version, Veloce. The top of range version the QV or Quadrifoglio. On these Spiders the main differences are about the trim and appearances of the Spider, nothing on the engine or performance as such. So purely cosmetic. My own Alfa Romeo Spider is a 1986 QV. I had all the trim taken off, so it looks like a Veloce. Much smarter. I have copied the original folder in which four sets of documentation (one for each car) are to be found. I only copied one set, the QV set, so you get some idea on how Alfa Romeo USA introduced its new cars in the biggest car market of the world at that time. No wonder a few years later they left the USA market! Ever since I have heard stories about how they will re-enter the USA market. Good for them, but they need more slick press materials! So here goes. This is the original folder, which held all the information on all four cars: ![]() One set of information per car , contained one (1) Black and White photograph of said car and a typed up of four pages as an information sheet. ![]() Here is the information sheet. Not sure how well this shows up on the photograph. Clearly this was printed Alfa Romeo Letter head onto which the text was typed, individually. Not too much word processing in those days. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() If anybody is particularly interested in the USA Alfa Romeo GTV or the other Spider versions let me know and I’ll put them up too. Enjoy, Jeroen |

| ![]() I remember this vehicle from the 60's. This or its sibling was used as a auto rickshaw or a load carrier as well. The unique features of this vehicle were 1. It was a front wheel driven 3 wheeler 2. It was chain driven 3. The "L" shaped gear lever propped out of the dashboard |

Distinguished - BHPian ![]() ![]() | ![]() Chanced upon some really superb ads dating probably to the late teens or very early 20s. To be honest I have never heard of any of these names. "Briscoe - the car with the half-million dollar motor" was sold by A H Wheeler & Co. ![]() The Englebert Cycle & Motor Co. were agents of "King - The King of Motor Cycles" and "Blackburne The machine that runs like a Car" ![]() |
