Bajaj scooters, Chetak and Super advertisements in TIME magazine, in the back inner cover from the 1970's. These advertisements were quite regular then. Pls note the Chetak's full seat, with stepney located on the glove box to the left. These earliest examples were very few (rare) on our roads. However, many Bajaj dealers were given one each in the mid 1970's.

I recall these adverts. I felt so proud that an India made Indian brand was being advertised in a leading foreign mag. Such a rare occurrence in the mid-1970s. In an era when automotive products were not always utterly reliable Bajaj stood out. While bell bottoms were all the rage then in retrospect they looked quite odd. To think I wore them proudly.

Nice pictures, which we (or at least me) had not seen before. By the way you make a small typographical error, for the first picture the year would we 1954 as that was the time the 3B was introduced with 5 meter combo from previous models. 1945 would make it a CJ2, which the jeep in picture is-int.

Nice photos. The above one is a Willys CJ 3 B and is from 1957 or later. The earliest low bonnet jeeps namely the Willys MB, of WW II vintage comprised in the batch of 1945 imports.

My uncle recently shared couple of images of these classic brochures with me starting with Enfield 200 with the following message:

From my library, found the catalogue of my first bike ENFIELD 200 launched in 1977. I was one of the first 10 customers in Bangalore. Within 6 months, I graduated to Enfield Bullet since that was my target. 200 was a forced error since I could not afford a Bullet 350

I then asked him if he has more of such brochures, images of which he could share with me and he sent me few more and said he will certainly have a lot from his collection since he has been an avid auto aficionado riding bikes and driving cars majorly on the highways - Owns an Opel Vectra too!
