Wheelers had the Railway Book Stall franchise on western and northern railways mostly. In south it was a company called Higginbothams mostly.

As per info on the page its from June 1947. The very last period of the "angrezon ka zamana" !

If you have full mag, it would be interesting to see how the copy of the "Full Report of Swiss Grand Prix" read against the copy of F1 races in todays publications.

This advert is from Aug 1952 (UK).

Both of these models were pretty common in India till 1960s. Zephyr was rarer of the two while Consuls were pretty common as taxis in some of the towns in Tamil Nadu

Interesting is the copy where special incentive is being offered for those wanting to export it out of UK.

Compare the scenario now!

Sorry, I do not have the full magazine. Only this page was sold, it may even be a copy. But it was so cheap, that it does not matter.
I remember seeing Consuls as Taxi's in Goa also. There are still a few survivors, but unfortunately these are very unloved models. Were these the last Ford's imported into India?

Cheers harit

Morris Minor 1952

Advert is from July 1952

The By Line is really nice and would fit many of the new ones these days as well.

Hell All,

An adver showing both Lamby and Mac from 1979.

Ajay,

It is a magazine from 1979.

At that point of time I had a Lambretta. If you were in TVM at that point of time you may have seen it. It was the only one of that colour (I think) - Bright Lemon Yellow with Cream. It also had a fairly large sticker saying "Chinook" on both side engine pannels.

Fiat 500c Topolino

I'm restoring a FIAT 500C TOPOLINO.

I could only find a few low resolution brochures and manuals like this. Does anyone have any good prints showing features and the period colors for this car.

@ nairtvm, dhrishikesh help Thanks in advance!

PM Indrojit Sircar. His dad is restoring a topolino in Calcutta. A few days back I was at their garage.

Also, do post some pics of your car in a separate thread.

The car I'm restoring is a 1950 Topolino 500C Convertible(folding roof). I will start a thread soon on the restoration.

I did find a few Brochures on line. Thanks to Karl @ Karlosdeville!

@ nairtvm, My car looks exactly like the one(car nor van) in these brochures.

@predatorwheelz, does the car in Calcutta look like this? Is it a 500C??

@indrojit sircar, any help will be greatly appreciated. I'm looking for some cosmetic parts.Hubcaps, taillights, emblem, help!

I'm searching for more of these in English to see details/features/period colors. If anyone has any Manuals/books/brochures for the 500C, Please share.
I have the workshop Manual(photocopy) if anyone needs one for a 500(ABC) Topolino

(Ford) Wonderland!

Hello All,

This thread has been quiet for too long!

Here is one to start it moving

See the range of Ford Staion Wagons available in 1957 (Sept). Actually the this was two page advert with 7 Cars in all. The other page was too damaged to try to scan even

Hope some of the experts can name the 3 and a half seen on this page

Best Regards & Drive/Ride Safe

Double Seven

Hi All,

I don't know if many here would remember the late 70s

The Post Emergency - Election of 1977 - Exit of Multi Nationals under the George Fernadez regimen.

Answer to CocaCola - Double Seven - 77!

Can any one let me know the bike in the advert ( I think its a Honda - but which model). The copy is really a good compliment to the thrill of biking.

This copy is from RD May 1980

Hope you like it.

Best Regards & Drive/Ride Safe

Product from PAL - from the bygone!

A 1954 advert for a PAL Product.

(Mods please excuse me if this had already been posted by me)

Thinking of what was on offer from them in 1954 and in 1984. In 1954 PAL had Dodge, Plymouth and Fiats and only the Padminis in the latter) it really pains to think what regressive lot we have been.

When we had these Indian Colas, if I remember correctlz there were two, one developed and bottled by the old Coke factory in India, Campa Cola, and the second developed indigenously by whoever and was supposed to be bottled or developed by Modern Bakery? Any way, both were horrible, tasted like medicine.
The relevance is that sometime in the late 1970s Vohra had almost completed the restoration of his 1919 Model T and we went for a drive. We stopped at a girls place who did stints of modelling and she told us how for one of these adds she emptied the bottle and put Thumbs Up in that as the taste was so bad. I checked, she is not the girl on the bike. Thanks God Thumbs Up came and saved us all from these Colas. A small irrelevant story of that time.
About PAL, thez manufactured the cars progressively in India, meaning indigenisation was taking place at a slow pace. But must have been too slow for the government to stop the imports of the kits and effectivelz kill off these Chrýsler products in India.

Cheers harit
