These two Lambretta pictures were posted by me earlier but were not so clear and so I am posting these again. they are from a Lambretta (API) calender perhaps from 1962/3 as this is when these two tone colours were on the side panels and the front was fully white.

Premier Automobiles actually has a 118NE with the roof cut to shoot the interior photos. Wonder if the car was subsequently repaired and sold, or scrapped

The first picture has Tata Locomotive & Engineering Co Ltd. Is that correct?

The third picture also has this. Tata Locomotive & Engineering Co Ltd later came to be known as TELCO, and subsequently Tata Motors. The trucks were definitely Telco products. Telco also made steam engined road rollers, and they had some connection with Sentinel steam trucks.

The First Advt. spells Tata Locomotive and Engineering Co. (short form would be TLECo), the third pictures spells Tata Engineering and Locomotive Co. (short form would be TELCo).

And that's my reason for query. Was that spelled the other way earlier, prior to the Automotive era of them.

Well spotted, Eagle Eye!
What is noticeable is that even in the first ad, the bottom left hand corner uses the acronym TELCO. So the company name as spelt in the first ad could well be a case of typographical error. This really is very interestng and needs to be looked into. I'll have a look at my archives over the weekend to check.

Its has got to be a typo or the internal reference # of the Advert Agency. The TELCO was established in 1945.

Yes the copies are from RD. The old editions are my favourit reads even now.

Seemed like a typo to me too. I used to have hundreds of RDs in my house. Disposed them off a few years back to make space. Regretting now!

These early TMBs used to have a factory built cab with single windshield. Later, TM started offering cabless version with partitioned windshield.

I now learn that the original name of the company was indeed Tata Locomotive & Engineering Co. Ltd. The name was changed to Tata Engineering & Locomotive Co. Ltd. in 1960. That's why the pre-1960 ads use that name. It wasn't a typo.

Curiously, the popular short name for the company was TELCO even before 1960!

Interesting to see the evolution - from nice art work based to almost a lifeless photo based

Also interesting to see the Amby image being associated to an "Executives" car
