Well, Lada was the Russian equivalent of Fiat, much as Premier was to India. Ladas were also sold in many other countries, unlike Premier.

^^^ oh okay so I was partly correct...having said that unlike Jeremy Clarkson I somehow like happen the design of the Lada/118NE/1.38D...it was a decent looking car...
OT: for some strange reason everything I like goes out of production or doesnt sell in India..for eg.contessa,standard 2000,118NE,309,ford escort,tata estate,etc and my bike...

Thats the flow of times. Those cars, if launched today would be criticised for being boxy and too old.

But you somehow have to take comfort in the fact that some nice designs like the Camaro and Charger are coming back, even BMW's are cleaning up, so are Mercs. Very soon those lines would percolate to the cars that we see around us.

^^^ the new C class is a good example that merc is cleaning up it's act and going back to old school designs of the muscle era '70s

Yes you are right the Stoewer has always been in calcutta and was in another district of West Bengal.
