I found a great web-site "the old car manuals project" on Google.

Lots of owners & repair manuals plus lots of sales brochures etc., etc., all free for down loading.

I was looking for info on the 20's Chevrolet and found this site plus they have the owners manual for this car!

Santa didn't forget me after all!

Do you mean this

Came across this Austin A40 Sports brochure on "old car manual project" and thought it would be of interest to our Austin fans.

Are there any such models here in India?

Hi John,

This Brochure has been posted by Karl earlier.

I read somewhere on the forum about Dr Ravi Prakash of Bangalore owning an A40 Sports. Besides this, numerous other A40 Devons and Dorsets have been highlighted by our members.

If you remember, I had written about an A40 Devon rotting away in Kolkata.

Right now its in the hands of an idiot garagewalla. Persistent enquiries from people like yours truly have convinced him that the car is a potential goldmine. So the car's asking price goes up everytime I visit him.

Want to accompany me one day? Who knows? If we can salvage the car, the brochure sure will come in handy:)!

This A40 Sports was a Mumbai car, went to doc and is ow in another collection in Bangalore which includes the Ford Anglia tourer and a Ford pick-up.
Probably the only one in India.

Here are some pics of the said Austin A40 Sports when it was with Doc in Bangalore. It is an interesting car as its body is in aluminium and there must be very few around here in India.

This car was advertised for sale way back in Car & Bike or some similar publication.

Hi!
Do you really want to restore a Ford Y? They were not only simple cars, that is not a crime, but they were very cheaply made. Afterall they sold for around GBP 100/- or so. For example, where a ball bearing was required they used simple round bush bearing. But still, if you are going ahead, contact Magneto. He is doing one at the moment, could surely give you tips.

Cheers harit

Hello Harit ,

The car was there , I had to - sort of - apprentice my denters son into the job - so the case for the restoration of Model Y was tailor made .
Will contact Magneto.

Regards
Chauhan

Regretably the message was posted inadvertently , further to the above I think this is the only Model Y which remains in UP - there were 2 in Kanpur but they have not been heard of for the last couple of years.
