Karlosdeville, Yes. There were no VW's. Only other bike was a yezdi. These were all the old cars that were there. I think it was more of an auto expo for the new cars. I believe all mostly all dealers of various manufacturers had a kind of stall and new showroom cars and bikes there. Mapmyindia had a stll for their GPS'. And I sat in a Mahindra Maxximo too.
Now I think I need to check out the two garages I know at Verem and Calangute. I have seen a few VW's Landrover etc... there

You drove by Verem? Did you not click any photos of the VW's inside to the rear?

Yes I did. And no, I did not stop and enter the place since it was raining. You have any pictures to share?

EDIT: Saw another post from Jeepster from the same garage - here. He mentions that he saw these in South Goa whereas it actually is up north. Not sure if the name of the village is Verem.

You should have gone in and met the garage owner.Next time do so. Yes your photos show the rain, very nice. Jeepster made a mistake between north and south.

Nope I don't believe any are for sale. They belong to the garage owner's friends or customers who have brought them for restoration. He's a good guy but sadly he doesn't have the man power to get the work done. Since the local people do not wish to do this kind of work, he's had to rely on people from the North. Unfortunately they have leave after getting some experience here. So thats a major handicap. I saw him painting andthat told me how serious a situation is whereby he has lost not just money but also his reputation.

I was speaking to someone's who repairs VW's about this the other day and he mentioned he would do well if he shifted shop from Bombay to Goa. Quite true infact. Something I wouldn't mind doing myself.

Oops! I make mistake Mare. I meant to say my friend from mumbai who repairs VW"s for many years thinks he himself will do good business if he starts a garage in Goa. Which I agreed with. I was just looking at all the tools in my closed garage and saying to myself " a few years ealrlier I would have done it myself"

Yep, we need ot discuss about the S-7. My friend from Verem was telling me last month over Bakanpeda and tea that there is an S 7 in Panjim too. But the owners isn't selling. So counting yours there are 3 in Goa that I know about.

Whats stopping you now? Anytime is a good time.

I know one mechanic who used to be like a SA for VW in Goa. He now sells pastries. He worked on the bay and the split. He used to work for a while with Avelar, his son a very good friend knows VWs too but he helps his dad in selling pastries.

If we have one good garage for classics anywhere in India, like the sorts DKG has access too. We can get many more classics back on the road. Ok I am rumbling...

Taleigao? I know about it. Last he quoted without being direct was 3 lakhs. Its kept in the open with most of it destroyed.

There is another in Mapusa. No clue where, need to look hard.

Yes a good idea but the thought of being able to do anything in Goa where every this is "come tomorrow" will scare anyone.
On second thought I wouldn't mind selling pastries in Goa either. If only I knew to make them.

I agree one good garage the way DKG has been restoring will bring a lot of classics back to glory there.

Yes I hear once these bikes are in the open they get too bad to repair.
The one in Mapusa has gone into hiding now. Bu tthat was in the open too for a long time.
