Thats very true,I used to see many when i used to visit Goa in the early 80's. An example was Margao. The road leading from the old bus stand to the new bus stand had many Mercs lined up, the Fin tail ones and the Pontons. But now you dont even get to see one. Have spotted 2 Pontons on the way to Dona Paula. 1 restored & the other Unrestored, both belong to the same person. VW Micro buses, there were so many of them, but now its difficult to spot one....

True. This was because till the Portuguese occupied Goa there was a VW dealership in Goa.

Well from what I know, Antonio Avellar Baretto (or his ancestors) owned the VW dealership in Goa. He later changed it to Skoda.

I remember seeing this car at his place, the last time i visited goa. It didn't seem to be in very great shape then. The orange car that u can see behind the ghia is premier padmini modded by avelar. I remember seeing a dark green beetle too at his place. If i'm not mistaken, he said it belonged to his grandfather. Even that one had the funny white thinggy on the rear window. Was this a popular period accessory??

This is the weird and whacky Fiat. Moralfibre tells me that GGG is a government vehicle registration.

The green Beetle is typically an amalgum of various models. I date it between 58 and 62.

He also has this modded cabrio. Note the grafted windscreen from another car, perhaps the rear screen from an Amby or soemthing.

Hi Guys...
Thats really some great info which I never knew about being a Goan myself. Was never into classic cars.. now feel like getting into and gaining some interest. Would have poured in some info but right now in Kuwait.

Guess not many Goan members around!
Or probably not many are interested in classic cars.

Good to have some Goan guys around! Keep up th spirit guys!
Hope to meet us with some goan Tbhp members someday in Goa!
