Last I had seen the car all issues with the engine were sorted and it ran perfect. Knowing the onwer there is no way he would keep teh car in poor mechanical condition.

Some parts, maybe head etc were imported from UK. I had supplied contact details
Cheers

I saw the car at the house last week. Wasif, they have indeed imported parts and done up the engine. They were cooling the engine and she was sounding great.

Standing next to the RR was a beautiful 1939 Buick convertible.

Cheers

Came across these neat factory images of the 1924 40-50 Chassis 76RM, delivered to Bhopal.

Wow, never noticed that. Now this would be a true 'Tiger car' rather than that ghastly red ghost doing the rounds. I was really fascinated by the rear spot lamp.

Where is the cannon mounted on the trailor?
This was definitely a "hunting"car, the lights point to that. The Nawab of Bhopal did go for hunts, there is a Hotel in Bhopal (Iforgot the name) which displays a stuffed white Tiger. Later when the Nawab bought that 6.5 Litre Bentley, the lights on each side were removeable and had some 50 or 100 meters length of cable to enable the lights to be taken into the jungle. The wires were neatly placed in reels, no messing around. The rear spotlight may have been placed to prevent sneaky attacks

Good spotting.

Cheers harit

The mounting of two spares on the same side is unique.

This was indeed a true hunting car. If you look at the interior picture, you will see gun clips for rifles above the open cabinet and corresponding wells for the 4 rifle butts below it on the floor.

The "red" Kotah car, towing the cannon (Phantom I, Chassis 23-RC) was originally Grey!

In the case of the Bhopal Bentley the recess for the rifle butts was on the running board, just in front of the cable reels that Harit talked about and the clips just aft of the front seat.

Hello Travancore,
Manvendra Singh told me it is Phantom I #43EF. The coachwork comes from Phantom III #3AZ178, which in turn received #43EF's Thrupp & Maberly tourer body. Both cars belonged in the Darbhanga family.

Re: Dharbanga RR PI

Here is the snap of the car at the Cartier event bearing its original number I think. 43 EF is the Vin Number

Cheers

re: Classic Rolls Royces in India

See this cover on the RREC Bulletin. Both the cars are famous Rolls's, one is still in India but the Patiala Car has gone out. It still exists though.

Cheers harit

re: Classic Rolls Royces in India

The Phantom 1, chassis 60 AL, formerly in Bhawnagar with a chopped body, is now getting a new body built. I hope the owner has done research and restores the original body style. Personally, I would have retained the body in its current form but done up the mechanicals and paint. Now another piece of history will fade into oblivion. The car was to have gone overseas for a complete rebuild, but various constraints prevented that from happening. We do have good work being done here and hopefully she is in the hands of someone who understands Rolls Royces.

I hear that she may be turned in to a boat-tailed car like in the pictures below. A style more on the original lines would have been ideal.
Actually, the Bhavnagar car did not have a chopped body, the body was removed from the front door pillars onwards. I heard that it was to be used for a fire engine.

Cheers harit

This should be a fitting body to what believe came. Stand corrected but a much smarter line to a boat tail. This is also an ex maharajah car incidentally .

Cheers
