Re: Classic Rolls Royces in India

Continuing analyzing the video of Edward, The Prince of Wales, Tour of India in 1922, we are again very fortunate to spot the elusive MYSORE 1 & MYSORE 2 in their original body style. Clearly both the cars were doing very well in 1922

MYSORE-1 : Chassis # 1680, 1911 Silver Ghost, Barker bodied Roi-des-Belges

MYSORE-2 : Chassis # 1683, 1911 Silver Ghost, Pullman Limousine by H.J.Mulliner. This is the first body of the car.

Later on the car was later re-bodied by Barker as Ceremonial Victoria Touring and also sports the engine of MYSORE-1, SG#1680

Wow, what a find! And not one that I know.

It could be the 1923 Jaipur Silver Ghost, chassis 63LK (Barker Enclosed Drive Limousine).

63LK is a new one for me - any images please?

Could it also be 46OR now with Bhogilal collection rebodied?

Unfortunately, I do not have an image for 63LK. That is why I said "could be".

It is not 46OR, the third window and door hinging are very different (46OR had a front hinged front door; and suicide rear doors).

Re: Classic Rolls Royces in India

Hi,

I am trying to trace 1929 20 hp RR's that may still be in Indian with the Chassis number beginning GEN. There were 82 built and I have found the current owners of 31, but searching vintage groups to see if any else may be around. Does anyone know of any GEN series 20 hp's in India, it will be much appreciated. see attached 1929 GEN research to date. Rgds Neil Fraser

Re: Classic Rolls Royces in India

This 1930, 20/25 HP, #GDP55, with it's second body by Southern Motors, has been restored and ready to roll. Mechanicals by Rodricks Restoration, Bangalore and everything else by TEAMCSA, Chennai.

Great to see the car back on the road after a major restoration.

The car was a garage mate with my Daimler at Rodricks Restoration. Both the cars were finished almost together!

Search for 1929 20 hp RR Reg RJO 6UC 0020

Hi,

My friend John Fasal kindly mentioned that the above 20 hp car, chassis number GEN 77 was sold in the US 4 years ago to a buyer in India. I am trying to find as many GEN series cars as possible for a new book about the GEN series and wonder if anyone knows who purchase this car ? Kind regards Neil Fraser, Ireland

GEN47 as you have listed is the only "India" car that I know of, in that series. I do not believe it survives.

Hello and thanks so very much for this information, the GEN 77 RJ06 UC 0020 car looks amazing. To date, I have tracked down 31 current owners out of 82 GEN series cars from 91 years ago, with my own car being GEN 33. Is it possible to forward my contact email to the new owner, in case they would like to have the pictures of 56 of the GEN cars that I found? I wrote a book about my own cars 3 year home rebuild, "The Other Yellow Rolls Royce GEN 33" and am writing a 2nd book with more detail. Thanks in advance Neil Fraser neilfraser001@gmail.com

Re: Classic Rolls Royces in India

These pictures were given to me by a friend more than 20 years ago. I can't for the life of me remember where they were taken, possibly somewhere in Maharashtra or Rajasthan. Is it a Phantom I?

regards,

Aditya

I always (perhaps mistakenly!) associate the 20 with horizontal slats on the radiator. I suppose an exposed core would perform better in our climate.
