![]() Henk: This car (Khairpur) is actually a 1932 Phantom II (Chassis # 44MY) by Hooper It is sometimes referred to as a "Continental" - because of some specifications. However, it is not listed as a Continental by Gentile in the "RR Phantom II Continental" This car is very similar (ducktail) to the Jaipur PII that is shown in this thread (posting #2 , currently on page 21 - last page). I am attacing an original photo from Rolls Royce ![]() Last edited by travancore : 13th May 2008 at 03:34. Reason: added thread reference)

![]() This car is the Mysore Throne car (best guess 1911 Silver Ghost Chassis # 1683). If you look closely, you can see the "Mysore Double Headed Eagle" embroidered on the back seat. ![]() This car has recently been in the news - being sold by the Richard Solove collection. However, it now seems to sport "straight" front wings / fenders (as opposed to more curved in this period picture. ![]() The location seems to be the Mysore garages.

![]() From an old RREC article. Regarding the Darbhanga? PIII, I worked on that car and still know the previous owner I will see what records they still have. It was sent to the UK for restoration many years ago. Last edited by Julian UK : 13th May 2008 at 19:47.

These cars are respectively 3BU120 & 3CP112. The Nabha car is always referred as "Taj Mahal" not Nabha. There was a close-up picture in a club magazine but I don't remember which one. Here's a pic of the car which is larger than what you see on screen.

![]() How different 3CP112 looks! This ex-Prince of Baroda car had a magnificent leopard skin interior and was finished in a parrot green (Windovers Saloon)- see below: (pictures courtesy of Praeclarum and a T-BHP member who spent a lot of time in India) RR PIII Chassis 3CP112 Windovers Saloon (Prince of Baroda) ![]() ![]() ![]() Does anyone who has seen this car before remember the exotic interior ???

| ![]() Identified by park-ward as PIII 3BU120 (Windovers saloon limousine; first owner Max Linde per "The Derby Phantoms") ![]() Does anyone know if this car actually belonged to the Dharbanga fleet or does it just happen to have a Dharbanga (?) "DBG" registration ? Any history of its life in India ? |

| ![]() I know a fair bit about the recent history of 3BU120 upto its last change of ownership but I must get some permission. (Some of it I posted earlier) It is a well known car in Delhi. In the mean time. If one visits Rolls-Royce Motor Cars | Design without compromise then click on “Broadband/Cable (DSL)” (you need Flashplayer 8), then when it starts, click “skip movie” bottom right, then from the horizontal menu choose “Company history” from the menu that appears when you hover the cursor over “Rolls Royce”, then click on the camera logo on the left, then click “next” 3 times to pass through the next 3 photos you will see a lovely clear photo of an early Silver Ghost outside a Rolls Royce Indian Depot building somewhere in India. It doesn’t look like Hughes Road, Bombay or Park Street in Calcutta. Which city was it? ![]() Here is a picture of Phantom 1 # 71 DC with its new owner in the sixties: ![]() From a RREC article More recently ![]() The point to remember I think is that prior to the export ban it was just like importing any vintage car from any other country. No big deal, many would have rotted away. I know of a vintage Rolls Royce that was recently exported from UK to India. ![]() Last edited by Julian UK : 14th May 2008 at 04:32. |

Car was winner of the Coupe de l'Exposition, France 1937 (per Derby Phantoms). Could it be possible, Baroda bought it there ? Would be interesting to confirm the Baroda connection. (Julian - hint, hint!!!)
