Congratulations Karl, you have invented a new word

This list is courtesy of Park Ward, probably the most experienced identifier of Rolls-Royces in the world, who is having a break from our glorious chaos. The list is a work in progress. One day maybe the numbers can be double checked. Most are definite though.

in my albums i have come across two 1930's Rolls Royces which were specially ordered for the Maharaja's. one was used for roaming the Gardens and the other was used for hunting trips. both cars are open tops and one of them resembles a willy's jeep.

Julian i have not recieved your mail.

The "jeep" is a 20/25HP, chassis GKC10 still in the Udaipur-Mewar collection. I suspect the other RR is their other 20/25HP, chassis GNS11, with a utility body. Both are displayed in the Krankoli Temple mews.

I was preparing a sort of basic guide to identifying RRs for you but I got busy. Sorry, I'll send it once its ready. At least you can work out which model each one is.
If you send the photos to Karl I'm sure he would scan them for you.

oh dont worry about it. all the cars can be identified. the only problem is i travel alot and my father goes through the site once in a while to see something interesting. we just have to sit together and compile it.

you could try if you could get your hands on some of them or you might already be having these. alot of information regarding coach work and other details. these are just some of the books i have.

1) The Rolls- Royce twenty by John. M.Fasal.
2) Those Elegant Rolls-Royce by Dalton Watson
3) Rolls Royce Phantom 2 Continental by Dalton Watson
4) Rolls Royce In America by Dalton Watson
5) Coachwork on Rolls Royce 1906 -1939 by Dalton Watson
6) Rolls Royce and Bentley Experimental cars by Ian.W.Rimmer

if Karl scans them for me i am sure i would not get them back for a long long time, MAYBE 10/20 years . kem Karl. on a more serious note some of the pictures are black and white and do not have a negative so i do not think my father would let them go out of the house. the thought of sending them across to Karl the saviour did cross my mind.

Talking of GNS11, in the "Automobiles of the Maharajas" on page 83 and 104 there are photos of what appears to be GNS11 before its conversion? Same lights, screen, mudguards and bumper with No plate Udaipur 4 Mewar. Hooper tourer?

Thank you Park Ward, I shall now celebrate this wonderful opportunity of having identified a car correctly by posting the last RR poor quality photos of ..some more Delhi cars, the SC II, I understand is now elsewhere.

Silver Cloud II now in the ownership of another renowned collector.

Julian fabulous pictures of the Silver Cloud and Ghost. I always prefered the single lamp Clouds, and liked the styling of the James Young editions. Were the others Park Wards?

The Ghost is beautifully restored. what happened to its spare? BTW with nickle plating can you get such a finish? Wow

299 long wheelbase
41 H.J. Mulliner,
38 by James Young
1 by Hooper,
1 by Chapron
The rest were factory standard steel
Someone has added the centre fog light.

The SG's spares weren't ready when the photo shoot took place. A whole day shuffling cars about. Unfortunately, its chrome, not my choice. I just got it running + kingpins.

My oh!! My oh My!! Thanks for sharing the pics of the Cloud II and the Ghost.
These pics are astounding. I have a special affinity to the single lamped shape of the Silver Cloud II (and the Bentley S I and S II).
I remember the White RR Cloud II in the film Scarface which Al Pacino uses as his personal car. (There was one in a Bond Film where it gets dunked into a lake or was it a Bentley?)
The classic lines. Im getting goose bumps.
Could we have more pics of such RRs mate?

Julian,

It would be great if you could post that on the forum! It would be helpful for people (like me) who really dont know much about vintage cars at all.

Almost some kind of "vintage" version of this thread - http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/super-...fectively.html
