Here's a fairly ordinary-quality picture of 3DL96, scanned from The Rolls-Royce Bulletin of June 1939, page 12. The caption says: "Another Indian photograph, near the statue fo H.H. Maharajah Morvi."

Not many photos are taken of the rear ends of historic cars! But, here's one of 3BU134, beside non-India car 3AZ146, taken in 1974 in England. And there is a scan of a bad photocopy of the rear of 3CP116 (Berar) from the English magazine The Motor on April 19 1938.

DKG....Yes, I would love to convert the Danbury Mint PIII into some of the fabulous India cars. Problem is, I have not attempted to cut a diecast model (may be left with powdered metal) - and there are no plastic PIII model kits in 1/24 scale I am aware of! There is a sports saloon in 1/16 scale by Entex / Revell

Here are the last two additional photos I will post of Indian Phantom IIIs. They show 3DL200 in Kabul, before the Taliban vandals got to it. The first in 1985, the second in 1994. Six years later it had in effect been totally destroyed.

It may be a 1940/41 Lincoln Continental convertible (which a 1994 article mentions); THAT was one gift from FDR to the King!

If these people could destroy such a gorgeous automobile I'd hate to think what they would have done to the palace the car was in.

Steve, I think the car in the background of the SECOND picture is the ex-Afghanistan 1947 Lincoln Continental. The car is now owned by Mohsin Ikram, President of the Vintage and Classic Car Club of Pakistan.

The car behind 3DL-200 in the FIRST picture somehow looks more European / British to me (I am no expert here!), so pardon the impudence.

I am the care taker of 45WR. I have been unable to get any information on the Cairo show of 1929 and would also appreciate other pictures of 45WR with either the Thrupp & Maberley body or the Barker body. I am especially calling out to Steve Stuckey. Further I cleaned up this car from a 45 year storage and it is now in very good running condition and is unrestored with original paint and upholestry. Only the seat cushions needed new leather. At certain places, the Nile Blue colour from the Thrupp & Maberly body is visible. I will do a complete article (series) on the rehbilitation of this wonderful original car, for which invaluable help was given by RREC and its members especially Mr. Boddice and M/s Ristes. Meanwhile any photos & information are desperately needed.

The Lincoln Continental now owned by Mohsin Ikram was brought into Pakistan in 1950 from Afghanistan. It was owned by Abdur Rahim Khan of Mardan (Second cousin to King Zahir Shah) and sold to my grandfather in 1955. My grandad had bought the car as a present for his son who on his return from the UK, at the time was the second Chartered Accountant in Pakistan.
The Lincoln had a Mardan registration, but as my uncle was posted in Karachi the registration was changed to KAB 735. In 1958 my Uncle was appointed Finance Director for Ali Automobiles who were the Ford dealers in Pakistan. the Lincoln was sold to the Chairman of Ali Autos in 1959.
Ali Autos was nationalised in 1972 and the car was sold to Jalil Khan, who was brother to Jamal Khan, owner of 76 WJ Phantom II.
The photograph is from the period when it was in ownership of Jalil Khan, the next owner was Mr Mohsin Ikram.
Thankfully Mohsin has done a great job on the car and it his pride and joy.

Shyml, unfortunately I do not have any more pictures, but will keep hunting. By the way, what colour is "Nile Blue" - light, medium or dark ? Thanks! If I remember, the other colour on the two-tone body was cream.
