| ![]() This whole section is slowly dying due to lack of new material, (there were only so many cars that survived and they are running out) I don't think it is because of lack of interest. As eventually the section will become some kind of monument to the exposure of India's vintage cars, and as the "view photos only" facility has been kindly arranged by the mods, I think all the photos in the list need renaming by their model and chassis number, otherwise it is a very lengthy procedure to find a particular car. "RR PIII #3AX 201 Hooper Limo Baroda" has a lot more meaning than "scan xyz" I am willing to start the process as time permits, maybe Rehaan can help? |

I thoroughly enjoyed Steve's posts on the PIII's. Perhaps both Steve and Park Ward could trigger a similar series for the Ghosts and other models? Eventually I am confident something more user friendly will get created so people can sift through by way of an efficient indexing system

Here is a better photo of Silver Ghost #23TG during the Gandhi film shooting. ![]() Here is an unidentified 20hp tourer, I am hoping Park Ward can identify it. ![]() This is a photo taken inside the Gandhi film Rolls-Royce armoured car which was built specially for the film on the Modi's Phantom II chassis. The ignition switch was the twisting of wires visible on the steering wheel and the chap in the gun turret had one foot on Andrew Blake the driver's shoulder while he drove the car. The carb kept flooding so he had a petrol tap which he'd turn off when he saw petrol on the ground. (No floor boards!). It a wonder that it didn't burst into flames! Photos courtesy of the film's armoured car driver Andrew Blake who also drove the Ariel 350 motorcycle in front of the Buick 90 in the film. The cabriolet sold to Sawai Kishen Singh of Bharatpur is either #38UG (pale lilac with gold coach lines) or #64AG also by Windovers (no other details). #34UG was in all polished aluminium and the photo would be full of reflections. The car owned by Sir Charles Higham is #69LE.

Cyrus, could you possibly scan a clearer image of the Bharatpur car and either request the mods to replace the one in post #908 that wasn't too clear or just upload it in a fresh post?
