This car is definitely a Phantom probably a P I if it is from 1925. I say this because the front cantilever springs have the additional diagonal braces on both sides, which were also used in the Silver Ghosts to tie the leather strap for the crank handle. All Silver Ghosts and P I's and maybe even some P-II's had these diagonal braces that were exposed until the coachwork eventually covered them from view in later cars. In that case this car would have the 7.7 litre engine. The smaller Rollers, like the 20hp, 20/25 and 25/30 never had these diagonal braces.

This Roller (boat tail at the recent Statesman) I'm told is a Phantom I from 1925, #76RC, 1st body Barker tourer, 1st owner Capt. Glen.

The original body was apparently a Barker Tourer.

RR Shooting Brakes

To revive an earlier post in this thread (post 218) - thanks to karlos . Anyone have any more history on this car ? Awini had mentioned it was a taxi in M.P.

Also does anyone have pictures of the Asansol Shooting Brake with its original body ? Cheers

Kasli, would you be kind enough to post any more pictures if you have them ?

I believe there are stories that it may have been gifted by Baroda to Gwalior, or vice versa. Also owned by Raj Seth at some point in the 1980's ???

The picture is in his driveway! And the car is still there as far as I know. About him being the owner, I'm not saying!

The Mewar car registered RJY3 is a 20/25HP, chassis GNS11. Converted to a hunting truck!

The pictures have file names SimlaXXXX, if that location means anything to anyone

The boattail with the little trap door looks very similar to that on the Nawab of Bhopal's 1926 Hunting Bentley 6 1/2 (Thrupp & Maberly)

All these pictures are of the same car. The shooting brake of Asansol.
There was one more shooting brake in the form of a Silver Ghost, Vohra bought that car to Mumbai, and she went on to Sanghi. Either rebodied, or engine was used on an engineless Ghost. The car was in Cuffe Parade in the beginning of 1980's, and not with the lot sent to Chennai for storage.
