It was owned for many years by the late Alan Clark MP, not sure where it is now

This photo is after the repaint. The original colours were blue and silver (on side panels), similar to the Jaipur Bentley.

The car was last known in the USA in 1976, after Clark died in 1975. It was sold by London dealer C A R Howard. I can't believe that such a gorgeous car has 'gone to ground'.

Steve, as far as I know Clark died in 1999, and there are still some of his cars in the estates' Saltwood castle, among them his Silver Ghost and R-type Continental. Maybe, just maybe it's still there?

While it states the car was lost, it was infact dismantled and stored, and happily enough has been restored (with a Tourer body) and kept on display in the museum.

Which museum? Thank you!

Re: Classic Rolls Royces in India

Of course you are correct - Clark died in 1999 (thanks to you and Wikipedia for upgrading my knowledge!). I will be in touch with the Castle to see if the car is still there. Steve

Steve, Praeclarum 2006 No 4-06 Aug 2006 states the car was then owned by the Estate of the Hon. Alan Clark, so likely may still be, regards Wayne

Classic Rolls Royces in India-jaipur-rr-pii-89mw-queen.jpg

So why did the Queen use an almost 30 year young R-R ?

The car is the Jaipur PII, Chassis 89MW.

I have now heard back from Mrs Jane Clark at Saltwood Castle, to tell me that the car is no longer there and they do not know where it went, or when.

Indeed. According to Andre Blaize in France Jane Clark told him a few years ago that the car was sold by C A R Howard to the USA. I might follow this lead.
