Classic Rolls Royces in India-dharbanga-rr-similar-104sk-1st-body-rajendra-prasad.jpg

Cross-posting. The tourer in the middle is likely R-R Phantom II (104SK) with its second body. It is ex-Baroda and later Panna State. Given the timing of this photo (1955) the location is likely Panna and not Darbhanga.

Re: Classic Rolls Royces in India

The ex Baroda Phantom III chassis 3BU106 is prominently featured in the 1956 movie Shatranj. Unfortunately a poor print.

The car is under restoration in Delhi.

Re: Classic Rolls Royces in India

A Rolls 20hp (maybe a Barker barrel-sided Tourer?) is seen in the 1957 film Bade Sarkar. It appears to be shot in Rajasthan - maybe this is one of the Udaipur cars?

At first I thought it could be GWL2 as that was owned by Sheikh Mukhtar, but this has no vents in the bonnet. Perhaps 42GO or 64H9?

Or could it be the demonstrator 42G2 (later Patiala?), given the polished bonnet? The headlights do look like theyre mounted higher than usual, like we saw in GMK5. Over to the experts.

On another thread, I had "jumped" to the conclusion that it was 64H9. But 42G2 definitely makes sense

42G2 is also ruled out, as just like 42GO and 64H9 there are no external door handles, which we see in the movie, as sharply pointed out by John Fasal.

A Bhopal RR SG (tentatively Indian bodied 8AG or 12AG). With Viceroy Willingdon, ca 1933.

On the right is a Buick with typical triangular Bhopal plates.

Most likely Bombay Governor Brabourne's PI; chassis 80EF (originally Thrupp & Maberly limousine). Unfortunately, I have never seen a confirmed photograph.
