Of the hundred cars built there were only three fixed head coupes if I recall correctly, one of which is the Rony Khan car. Do you have a picture of the original bodywork?

Here are pictures of the third car YX 5124 by Mayfair

Thanks for the update Deepak. When do you estimate the car will be on the road? Is it fully drivable as is?

Yes the car is fully driveable. Mechanically its fully sorted out barring a tiny issue which Rishad plans on sorting out soon.

Expect to see this monster on the road any day !!

What's left before completing the restoration is only cosmetic enhancement.

I would certainly define it as a cabriolet. The car is a proper 4 seater, but there are plenty of 4 seater cabriolets around.

The car is a fairly unique body in some ways I think, open, two door and sporting. If you can consider a multi-ton 8 litre car sporty!

I have come across some info that the Nawab of Kurwai, which was a smaller princely state in Madhya Pradesh purchased a Bentley "Sports Tourer" in Bombay at the time of his marriage. Hopefully a picture will be available soon. Is anuone aware of such a Bentley?

Cheers harit

Cant wait to see pictures. I suppose most of us will only get to see at a rally.

I think the recent debate on bodywork nomenclature is due to people referring to different systems (British vs Continental vs American). So, what was a Drophead Coupe in the UK would have been a Cabriolet on the continent and possibly a Convertible in America.

The term 'fixed head coupé' is typically British. The 'fixed-head' bit might have been redundant but there you have it ! Also, the term has been used to describe 2+2 two doors as well, not necessarily just 2 seaters.

Hope this helps to clear things up, not confuse matters further

Aditya

Further to the above, the Bentley was a 4 1/4 Litre car which was listed as an India car, and not supposed to have ever been in India. On the basis of this info, it was found that the car exists in Europe, and the Derbey Bentley club made a change in the receords as having been in India for 3 years. The car has a very sporting body.

Cheers harit

Interesting to note what I think is a U.K. registration, the car must have just arrived.
