Pics of Pune vintage rally, 10+ years old

Hello,

Here are some pictures I took at a rally on Police ground, Pune more than 10 years ago. The pictures are digital photographs of some film photographs. So, they are rather poor quality (my apologies).
I am not sure if these fit in any other thread, so I am creating a new one.

These three were owened by Abbas Jasdanwalla.
1) 1908 Wolsley. This car celebrated it's centenary this year.
2) 1921 Austin 7. A very early 7 I must say, special body probably inspired by the 'ulster'.
3) a 1926 Mercedes 170V

will post the rest when the thread is created (I am a newbie)

1) Chevrolet Corvette Stigray. Then Owned by Jasdanwalla. The first owner was the actor Mehmood.
2) The Telco Rolls Royce, 1929. Ex-Maharaja of Kankar(?)
At another Rally this car was incorrectly labeled as a Ghost. I said it was too small to be a Ghost. The telco representative was rather displeased with the word 'small' and raised questions regarding my sanity
3) 1940 Austin 10. Raju Paranjpe
4) 1946 Sunbeam Talbot. Owner not known

Of course, something dosent add up about the Austin. The 7 was introduced in 1921. It had a painted radiator till the mid 20's. Probably just an incorrect restoration.

There was a Austin 7 Ulster replica being built at a place I worked in New Delhi in about 1984. The tail is slightly off centre and the owner had the aluminium castings for a dummy replica supercharger. I wonder if it is the same car.
I see there is a photo of the Tata 1925 RR 20hp GPK71 Barker Col Minchin which would be welcome in the RR thread.

Boy am I enjoying this thread! This was the first rally I ever attended, and dont have too many photos to remenisce. Now please come over to my house with these photos so we can trade stories and scan them. Can you remember the exact year? I think is was 93.

I dont recall seeing this very exciting Austin 7. Its never been shown again as far as I recall. The 170V is now green and carries an older regn (probably the original), Im assuming it is the same car as it too wears the same incorrect bumpers.

The Ford and Buick are still with him. Not sure about the Chevy. The MG was parked at a bungalow walking distance from my place, not sure if he has sold it. It was featured in the movie "Zubeida" with the charismatic Lillete Dubey driving the car.

The Humber I saw in Koregaon Park in the late 90s i think. Haven't seen it since. The DeSoto is probably 47-48, I doubt it could be 49. The Mercury and DeSoto are still with the Taleras, Im not sure about the Jag.

The 230SL is Fali Dhondhy's, the 300 is Jasdanwalla's.

The New Yorker was sold some years back, not sure on status of the Buick. Have ridden in this car when I was a kid, barely remember it. The 48 Buick I am happy to say still stands proudly in the driveway of the gorgeous bungalow of the owner.

The Telco Rolls stands in a display at the factory with a big board proudly proclaiming it as a 1926 Silver Ghost. We must correct them.

The Austin and Sunbeam are still with the same owners, though I doubt both have even been cleaned since this event, forget driven!

The Wolseley is now in Hyderabad, and black, the Lotus is of Jasdanwalla. The Piaggio Im told is still alive, and my guess is its the only one surviving. I love it!

I think the carriage was Fali Heerji's, it had some Queen of England connection.

Sounds good!! However, allow me to have the pictures reprinted on glossy paper first. These are not so great photographs on old and yellowing matt paper

My god !!! was it that long ago? no wonder the kids in my building call me 'uncle' .
On a serious note, there is way we could find out. This rally was held around the time the Ponawallas bought the Presidential Mercedes. Does anybody remember when that was?

I remember seeing the Humber too. It was in a building opposite Arthur's Theme.
There is a rather shabby looking yellow american car in a garage on Sholapur road, I hope it is not the Talera Desoto.

Queen Victoria never came, but George the fifth did in 1912. Perhaps he brought the carriage with him. Of course, it could have been brought to India on one of Queen Elizabeth's early visits, although that seems unlikely.
