Yes Shyam I definitely know that it had the original engine. They used to use the car very sparingly and it was treated with utmost care. It should be still lying around for sure in their studio in Alleppey. |

Distinguished - BHPian ![]() ![]() | ![]() This one from the 1949 R.K. film Barsaat- the song "hawa mein udta jaayen mera laal dupatta malmal ka" set to tune by Shankar Jaikishan (their first ever film). The Pontiac convertible might have been brand new. Seen on it are Raj Kapoor and his brother in law Premnath while Lata lip sync's for Nimmi. Lata-Mangeshkar-Hawa-Mein-Udta-Jaye-from-namp-quot-Barsaatnamp-quot-(1949)[www savevid com] Video, Video clips, Featured videos: Rediff Videos Incidentally this Pontiac used to be parked in the R.K. studios for decades. I do not know whether its still there. |

![]() I do remember seeing the H14- unusual for such cars to still be around as taxis in B'bay at the time (late 70s), dont you think? By then, it was fiats all around there. I did notice the Super-Select/Select too, but is that really the same colour as President's SS? | |

Distinguished - BHPian ![]() ![]() | ![]() Here are 2 songs from what appears to be an 'art' movie from the late 70s, 'Gaman'. A treat particularly to Fiat lovers! ![]() Basically about the life of a young taxi driver, shows the actor Faruq Sheikh driving what looks like a Delight or President taxi throughout. And various other Fiat taxis from Super-selects to Presidents besides various old fiats and a few other old vehicles as well. |

Distinguished - BHPian ![]() ![]() | ![]() Here is a lovely song by the late singer Suraiya from the film Moti Mahal (1952). The lyrics is by Prem Dhawan (death anniversary today 07/05/2011) and music by Hansraj Behl. Though no car or movie video is seen (singer Suraiya's still picture is seen)I felt it was apt to post this link here so that we vintage and classic car owners get the feel of the 1952 scenario. Distinguished - BHPian ![]() ![]() | ![]() For our FIATful friends: 'happened to come across this late 60s/early 70s Fiat Delight, in a 70s Kannada movie "Hombisilu" on youtube. I've seen only half of this movie (mainly curious to check out this car as well as any other vehicles that might appear in it! ![]() Any of our Bangy boys know this car? ![]() It seems quite loaded with period accessories, namely the stainless steel sunvisor, the horn ring and the large leather cushioned horn button (usually came in red I believe, this one does look so), 2-3 different sounding horns and the extra wide RVM mounted over the original one!! 'seems to be fitted with Amby hubcaps in the first scene but in later parts of the movie, the original aluminium caps can be seen! Incidentally, I remember Prabal mentioning that Delights came in a gaudy saffronish colour aorund 1971. I reckon this was the same colour so may be original. Note the white door rubber beadings, first time I'm noticing in a delight. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
