If my memory serves me right, the Bombay Oval convertible is a 1957, right?
And the Dharmasthala Bug is a 1955?

Which would make the Dharmasthala Oval sedan the oldest bug, and the Bombay Oval the oldest convertible?

Re: Old Bollywood & Indian Films : The Best Archives for Old Cars

From the movie THE TRAIN (1969). Any idea what the two tone sedan in the first pics. is?
And note how the Fiat 1100 select taxi transforms into a 1100D (with the same RH fender damage maintained though! ) and then reverts to an older 1100!

And what about the taxi in the "Nashik Road" station pics.? Looks American. Someone did mention american cabs running around in Nashik/Trimbakeshwar even in the 80s. But mostly dieselised.

Note the 1100D taxi with the brake light accessory mounted behind the rear seat!

Any idea what the blue van in one of the pics. might be?

Very nice! No we know which movie this shot was from. Harit had posted (parts of) a photo here. The car is maybe an MG or more likely a Riley. One can see more pictures of Sabita Devi in preceeding posts on the link shared.

Dodge Kingsway In Bollywood Film.

Dear Members,

Just in case you were wondering, it was my 54 Dodge Kingsway that appeared in the movie 'Bombay Velvet' during its shooting in Sri Lanka.

What a pretty car. Was there any assembly plant in Sri Lanka for Dodge/Chrysler products? Indian market Dodges of the era were assembled in Bombay.

Do share some more pictures of the other cars used in the shoot too.

A lovely photo of K L Saigal's MG saloon, with his manager Paul posing alongside.

We did see a similar looking car in various stages of its life elsewhere on TBHP. I wonder if its the same car.

Re: Old Bollywood & Indian Films : The Best Archives for Old Cars

From the movie 'Anita' (1967). Interesting custom-made (?) hood ornament on the Amby taxi- though can't make out if that's a script on it or just a design.

Big B has been known for owning some exotic machines. I for sure know that at some point in 70's/80's he owned a Ford Mustang, Camaro, VW Bus, Karmann Ghia, Jaguar, Land Rover, bunch of S class Merc's etc. As a matter of fact he himself use to drive most of these cars and friends have also seen him dropping Jr. B in his Camper to Jamnabai School.

Jr B was first in Bombay Scottish my Batchmate (not classmate) he would be dropped and picked up by Amitabh himself along with other kids from the Juhu area. Indeed it was a camper! cant remember but biscuit coloured but definitely a bay window and not split window. Subsequently Small B was moved out of Bombay Scottish after the 5th grade or so. Don't know if he went to Jamnabai or sent abroad for schooling.

From a 70s movie: APNAPAN. Jeethendra drives this customised mk2 Standard Herald most part of the movie. Many other cars can also be seen of course.
