As you will be knowing, these are relatively rare in India. There was a similar car in or around Hyderabad many years ago. No idea where she is now. And cars did migrate to other states, so this car could still be alive elsewhere under another registration. Perhaps one could go to the RTO and check.

Cheers

In the 1969 blockbuster Aradhana, actor Rajesh Khanna is seen driving around in a grey Willys CJ3B registered SKM 701.

But how come the difference in the foglights (single vs. double) and shape of the numberplate too?

Re: Old Bollywood & Indian Films : The Best Archives for Old Cars

A song from Kunwara Baap (1974) starring the one and only Mehmood as a rickshaw puller, with a child affected by polio. As he had said, this was his real son Macky Ali, who fled his home, absconding as a grown up between 1984 to 1989. Macky Ali passed away in 2002 at age 31 of cardiac arrest. The shootings for Kunwara Baap I believe were done mostly in Mysore and Bangalore. Mehmood entertains while lipsyncing to Kishore Kumar's voice and we see quite a few cars including a VW Beetle convertible.

A melodious song from "Mere Apne" of the early 1970's shot in Mumbai. Towards the end Ambassadors and Fiats are seen. Also a white Citreon Traction Avant is also sighted.

A (possibly) 1940 Buick Convertible with the spare wheels mounted on each front mudguard, from a song in a 1960 Tamil movie Kairasi starring Gemini Ganesan and Saroja Devi. (The car no. is MDT 65 but it is not available in the Vahan website.)

An MG TC (or TA / TB) from a song in a 1958 Tamil movie "Illarame Nallaram" starring Gemini Ganesan.

Another song from the same movie, Gemini Ganesan and Anjali Devi in the MG TC.

Re: Old Bollywood & Indian Films : The Best Archives for Old Cars

A LHD Triumph Herald coupe in a song from the (1967) Tamil movie Naan, starring Ravichandran and Jayalalitha. The car MDN 6112 is not in the Vahan website.

The same movie also has a 1963 Red Standard Herald tourer MYV 2454 in several scenes. From the Vahan website it's registration is seen as expired in 1978. So the car may not be existing now.
There is also a Fiat 1100 D and a big American car of the 1930s or 40s (possibly a Chevrolet) in some scenes.
The movie link is,

Re: Old Bollywood & Indian Films : The Best Archives for Old Cars

In a 2010 Tamil movie "Thilalangadi" starring Jayam Ravi and Tamanna, in a song sequence there are several vintage cars. There is a red Austin Seven (or maybe some other car as it has 4 doors), a black Triumph Roadster 2000 (1946-49) and another beautiful light blue colour cut door Roadster with dickey seat which I could not identify. The song is "Sol pechu ketta....".
The song is available in YouTube, just do a search with the song name or film.

This lovely shot was shared on the old Madras facebook page, showing actress Jamuna posing with a Fiat 500, a Select and a Dodge Kingsway. I have seen the Fiat Select featured in a Tamil movie too.

Does anyone know the name of the light blue car (cut door with dickey seat) in these photos?

Re: Old Bollywood & Indian Films : The Best Archives for Old Cars

Actress Divya Bharti poses on a 1967 (ish?) Chevy Impala, likely a choptop that does film shoot duties even today.

The picture might not be as old as it looks, as she was active in movies in the 1990s.

Nice to see the select, I wish it was MSX 1999 (as it was owned by G Shakunthala another actress). Was MSW also for Madras? If yes I wonder how come the car is Select? Mine is May 1958 and that is the start of the selects. This car is 11,728 cars earlier. Or is that there were many cars sold in short amount of time.
