It seems that this movie Motor Sundaram Pillai was also made in Hindi, starring Ashok Kumar, titled Grahasti. It seems to have been shot scene for scene identical - including the cars. Some plates have changed in this Hindi version. Thankfully it is a better quality print. There is no doubt the lead car is a Model T Ford. A Plymouth Suburban MSX 5453 is seen, which I'm told belonged to Parrys.

Re: Old Bollywood & Indian Films : The Best Archives for Old Cars

A Mehmood Special today :-

From the film Chhoti Bahen (1959) starring Balraj Sahni and Nanda. Mehmood (seen in this song) was paired with Shobha Khote. Pls check a few traffic scenes appearing in this song. A Chevrolet Fleetmaster Woody can also be sighted with a patient viewing. "Patient" because the "rickshaw walla" is idle and is wooing passengers for quite sometime. When he is on passenger duty, he moves mostly through narrow lanes, bereft of much traffic. Only rarely, like at the starting of the song he is in a dense traffic.

The song is Aaj Hua Mera Dil Matwala from Chhote Nawab (1961) starring Mehmood, Helen and Ameeta in the lead. Incidentally, this was R.D. Burman's first ever film as music director at age 22, though he had assited his father since many years earlier. The Jaguar XK 120 (WBE 8479) appears at 1.53 mins and stays till the end (4.02 mins).

This song is from the film Bharosa (1963) starring Guru Dutt, Asha Parekh, Mehmood and others. South Bombay traffic from the early 1960's is beautifully shown.

This song is from Miya Biwi Raazi (1960) starring Mehmood and Kamini Kadam, Seema Deo, David and others. There is not much here but you will sight a two tone, factory painted Dodge Kingsway (?) from 0.23 min onwards (extreme left) for some seconds.

Nice catch, thanks for sharing. The Jag was Mehmood's personal car, seen in multiple movies. The number was actually BMC 8479, the WBE prefix must have been added for the film. The car survives in a private collection in Indore.
