Also saw this Vanguard phase 2 taxi and 2 different models of the Standard 20 van (the green one is an early version with the 'closed' wheelarches) as well as a Dodge van in an ealry 80s Malayalam movie, which appears to have been shot in Ooty:
Must appreciate your patience to sit through a film with the numerous scenes (soothing, raunchy, emotional or even boring sometimes) and watch out for the real thing and click. Thanks!

Haha, well in case of the last ones, I fortunately(?) didnt have to sit through the whole film, jayD had once mentioned this scene long ago, saying the taxi appears in the last, climax scene of the film, which I found on youtube!

He did mention the same movie had a Standard 10/Super 10 in a scene in the middle, which I didnt take the trouble of finding (yet!)

Re: Old Bollywood & Indian Films : The Best Archives for Old Cars

A Nice Morris 8 appearing briefly in the movie 'Shaukeen' (1982)

(Note: This car wasnt responsible for the badly bashed in rear of the padmini behind! )

No other classics I could find in the movie.

Anyone know if this car is still around?

Yes it is a 190, owners name Ashley, I think the car belonged to his grandfather. Haven't heard from him in a bit. More can be found about the car from ponton owners club www.mbzponton.org

Re: Old Bollywood & Indian Films : The Best Archives for Old Cars

Here is a song from 1952 (film Mastana) song "do diwaane" with music by Madan Mohan. The singers are Mohammed Rafi and a then new talent Laxmi Shankar. The song shows many taxis on Mumbai roads. The assortment of taxis is quite good. Nearly every taxi is of another make.Fiats were yet to make their presence felt in 1954.

Lyrics / Video of Song : Jhoom Jhoom Ke Do Diwane Gate Jaye Gali Gali

While searching for the movie I came across these two songs where the car is seen, albeit not nearly clear enough.

Shatranj : Lyrics and video of Songs from the Movie Shatranj (1956)

Sir,

Reminding of Standard campanion, my uncle purchased a Standar campanion
for just Rs.5000/- from Nagpur in 1978 when I was in college. The car was
lying unused for more than 1 year when we purchasd it. With the help of
Mechnics we started the car and went to Hyderbad by road where my
uncle belonged to.

Sir,

Amitabh and Maushami are having a gala time . So nice to watch this video
which reminds us of classic Bombay. Those days were really King of
good times, never to come again.

Thats nice to hear! Any chances of having any old pics. of this car??
Until when did your uncle have it? So did he bring it down to Hyderabad from Nagpur and have it here? Do you recall the number of the car (atleast the hyd. one)?

The lady is Archana, and the movie seems to be the 1971 classic "Buddha Mil Gaya".
