Re: Old Bollywood & Indian Films : The Best Archives for Old Cars

Okay so these pictures are not from an old Bolly movie, but taken from the trailer of the upcoming flick, Detective Byomkesh Bakshi.

The trailer is already out in Youtube, featuring some lovely vintage cars and period localities in Kolkata.

Attaching a couple of pics of a gorgeous Jaguar Mark VI.

You mean a Jaguar Mark 4 . Looks like a car that's moved from Calcutta to Mumbai in the last couple of years

Cheers

Scene of the Madras traffic in this song from Nai Roshni (1967). Mohammed Rafi's voice is lip synced by Raj Kumar with music by Ravi.

Re: Old Bollywood & Indian Films : The Best Archives for Old Cars

Not many seem to have noticed my post here on this very thread- concerning a car that is regularly featured on the Mumbai Classic drive thread- The chop-top Dodge, GJA 7347. The concerned link: http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/vintag...ml#post3632582

'Neways, for the records, a 1954/55 Dodge Kingsway convertible, is seen here, in the Bengali movie Deya Neya (give & take! ), circa 1963.

Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you - WBD 7188.

Pardon the useless quality of the pics- but as they say, anything is better than nothing.

An interesting fact concerning the movie Deya Neya:
Quote:
During the mid 1960s Tanuja started a parallel career in Bengali movies in Kolkata starting with Deya Neya (1963) where she was paired opposite Uttam Kumar
Tanuja- a well known yesteryears actress is the mum-in-law of Ajay Devgn- and mum of well known actresses Kajol and Tanishaa. Credits- Wiki. I'm woeful with movies, you see!

A couple of links for viewing the movie: (YouTube)

This pretty 1954 convertible is not a Dodge Kingsway, but a badge engineered cousin - the DeSoto Diplomat. Well actually both were badge engineered Canadian Plymouths for export markets.

Re: Old Bollywood & Indian Films : The Best Archives for Old Cars

Pictures from the early 1970's film Dharmatma starring the Late Feroz Khan and Hema Malini. Must admit that Feroz Khan starrers from his production house showed a wide galaxyendy cars of the days. Feroz Khan's car sense was superb and perhaps only a very few other stars of his time could match him here :

Re: Old Bollywood & Indian Films : The Best Archives for Old Cars

A few scenes from the movie, Adaalat, circa 1976.

An MRF registered Mustang is seen here. Was trashed mercilessly throughout. She still looks like a beaut though- Who knows, she might survive?

Don't miss the Elkhart Yellow 1973 Premier President! :

In the last pic, some parts were removed, so as to prevent their destruction. Spares were an issue, as is evident.
