Re: Old Bollywood & Indian Films : The Best Archives for Old Cars

From the 1979 film Suhaag. Shashi Kapoor and Amitabh Bachchan at the peak of their careers, are seen on a Suzuki bike traversing through the streets of Bombay. Many old beauties can be sighted.

Oldtime actor Jeevan is sighted running an illicit distillation trade at the end phase of the video. The song is entertaining !

Wonder if anyone particularly noticed that the white Fiat 1100D was fitted with an orange parking light lens! While I know twas not original to the 1100D, I was under the impression that even padminis didn't come with the orange lenses until around the late 80s? Open to correction.

A still from the 1935 film "Barrister's wife". The car seems to be a Huppmobile, must have been brand new at the time. A similar car survives in Hyderabad.

Re: Old Bollywood & Indian Films : The Best Archives for Old Cars

Dharmendra is driving away in the car, with a “all is well in the world” air. Of course, there is nothing like going on a long drive on the highway in a car. Dharmendra is rightly in a jovial and happy mood. Even a flat tire (that takes place after he has sung two paras of the song) cannot dampen Dharmendra’s spirits. He changes the tyre and continues on his journey.

This car song from “Yakeen”(1969) is sung with his customary gusto by Rafi. Hasrat Jaipuri is the lyricist. Music is composed by Shankar Jaikishan.

Can any inform what is the make and model of the car ?

It is an MG PB as identified in KartikeyaL's reply above pointing to karlosdeville's earlier post. The dashboard, meters, parking lights and windscreen fittings appear to be not original though.

Re: Old Bollywood & Indian Films : The Best Archives for Old Cars

From the less heard film "Rootha na karo" (1970) starring Shashi Kapoor and Nanda, the song has a western touch. The music director is C. Ramchandra (C for Chitalkar - he is no South Indian Ramchandra but was born in Puntamba, near Ahmednagar). Extremely talented he was and I am one of his die-hard fans.

Though I found that this tune is a straight 100 % lift from Bert Kaempfert's "That happy feeling " (1962), an instrumental. C. Ramchandra's vast and sterling contribution to the Hindi film music scene (also Marathi) is largely unblemished but for a very, very few such western inspirations.

Back to the clip, it features a repainted Herald ( 0 - 44 seconds) with a chopped hood. It appears that the front shock absorbers are a bit tired and out of sync.

From Chalti Ka Naam Gaadi (1958). The song is picturised on Kishore Kumar, Anoop Kumar and Mohan Chhoti and is sung by Kishore Kumar and Sachin Dev Burman.

Here is a lovely shot of Shashi Kapoor and Feroze Khan with an early Thunderbird. I assume this is the Palitana car now in Indore.

Re: Old Bollywood & Indian Films : The Best Archives for Old Cars

Have heard this song from Souten multiple times but never noticed this BMW. Looks like a 3 series from the 80s. Thought this movie was shot in India but look at the registration BC 10 ? The house looks so magnificent. Anyone recognize the location ?

This film (1982) was directed by Mr Saawan Kumar Tak and a major part of the film was shot in Mauritius. Music Director was Ms Usha Khanna, wife of Mr S.K. Tak.
