A quick correction - the car is indeed a Jaguar XK120, but the movie is Ginny aur Johnny. This car was owned by Mehmood at the time, and his Corvette is also prominently featured.

Re: Old Bollywood & Indian Films : The Best Archives for Old Cars

A clip was posted a couple of years back, but here are screen shots and some more cars from 'Preet na jaane Reet'

A white 49 (?) Packard convertible - now we've seen a similar car in dozens of movies well into the 80s, but this being a LHD is a different car probably.

A cool petrol pump scene with ESSO oil drop man.

The Packard quickly transforms into a 1954 Plymouth Belvedere - same car also seen in Chalti ka naam Gaadi and some more movies.
Old Bollywood & Indian Films : The Best Archives for Old Cars-img_3023.png

An early MG Roadster, the car survives in Bombay.

The car now transforms into a Ford convertible of around 1955

The MG too changes to another similar car

A 1939 (?) Ford V8 convertible. Quite a desirable car today.

Misc cars in the workshop scene. They look English?

Re: Old Bollywood & Indian Films : The Best Archives for Old Cars

The story behind this song by Suraiya in Moti Mahal (1952) is that she was coming for its shooting. Her car broke down and she was stranded. She later narrated the incident to the film crew. Prem Dhawan the lyricist very soon wrote this song, much to the delight of Suraiya and the film crew. It was set to tune by Hansraj Behl.
Suraiya owned a Buick and a Lincoln Continental and both these would go for her shootings with her grandma, uncle and others in tow. (from Dev Anand's autobiography Romancing the Life) They would carry fruit juices, snacks and food to keep Suraiya fit for the whole day.

Re: Old Bollywood & Indian Films : The Best Archives for Old Cars

A song from the film Jhoota Kahin Ka (1978). Rishi Kapoor there during his prime years starring with Neetu Singh. The music is by R. D. Burman, the song sung by Kishore Kumar, with lyrics by Anand Bakshi. It's a studio shooting but the cars on display deserve a look though some of them could have been just overlooked given the fact that it was shot in the year 1978.

Re: Old Bollywood & Indian Films : The Best Archives for Old Cars

This song from the film Budtameez(1966) is crooned by Mohammed Rafi, with music by Shankar Jaikishan and lipsynced by Shammi Kapoor. Sadhana is seen throughout the song. The car is a Buick Super Eight that's towed by a military disposal Dodge Power Wagon. Some other vehicles from the era are seen in the traffic, that is evidently the old Bombay - Poona highway. And Manmohan Desai was the film's Director.

5 Rifles was a 1974 I.S Johar movie, starring Rajesh Khanna Lookalike and Shashi Kapoor Lookalike. Movie had a hit Qawwali "Jhoom barabar Jhoom". Movie has almost plenty of scenes which clips of 69 Italian Job, shamelessly pasted in between. Movie had many car scenes including italian job clips. 3 Minis driven by chimps (Costumed), Dodge police van, Mercedes Bus, Chevy and 2 Citroen Traction Avant's wasted.

This was a treat, thanks for sharing

The MRZ registered blue Mini used to belong to a friend's aunt. And did anyone wonder why the relatively obscure Citroen Tractions were used to make the orange car in the later scene? It was probably the only vintage front wheel drive car they could get - important if one wants to drive only the front half!

Re: Old Bollywood & Indian Films : The Best Archives for Old Cars

Farz was Jeetendra starrer Spy thriller of 1967. Movie had Cars like Ford Falcon SW and Ford Taunus 17M. It seems two models of Falcon Sw featured one is probably 64 squire custom SW and other being normal one and there was this Taunus 17M.
