Was it black and MAF regd? If so it is a 190 fintail, round headlights. A couple of other American classics shells were lying around too.

I did promise you some service books/cover for your 115 and there is a big RESERVED sticker on them back home now. Just not able to make a trip back home from the UAE.
I also have the original S class owners manual for my 450 SE and if you need it I will be more than glad that it will be put to some use.The 116 had one owners manual from 280 S to 450SEL so your 116 is covered too.
Thanks brother. Dont worry about the time taken. Ill wait for as long as it takes. Thanks for the offer for the W116 owner's manual. Thats really kind of you to offer it to me. Yes I will accept with many thanks.

Absolutely right. Obviously Karl your eyesight is better than mine. On closer inspection if one notices the bumpers, one can see, as Harit pointed out, that its an oblong light W111/W108.
Mistake accepted.

Ok mistake-2 accepted too. The thing mounted between the Amp meter (aftermarket) and the parking brake, looked deceptively like a diesel heater glow lamp to me, it could well be some switch the pic is not very clear. It is suspiciously mounted in the place where many a dieselised cars have had their heater glow lamps mounted. Since you have confirmed thats its not been dieselised (thankfully) I stand corrected

Thank you V16

Hai V16... thank you for your complements and appreciation. Here are some before pictures.
Was not a very complicated restoration job. Some nut case had convinced my friend to dieselise this gem of a 115, a very original car.
Fortunately the guy did'nt butcher the car, the diesel engine was fitted with practically no alterations, actually most early model Mercs were easy to convert as long you used the original Merc Diesels. But before it was on the road, I managed to convince the owner to have the petrol engine refitted.Another one saved in the nick of time.
Cheers,
SG

Thank God for you SunilGee. That was one saved in the nick of time. These W114/5 cars are real gems and can be used and abused till kingdom come. Sad that in the earlier years, they were mostly converted to diesel versions. There are many still being used as Taxis in Nepal, Iran, Turkey and so many other parts of the world.

Here is a classic example of a wonderful 1972 W-108 250SE, gathering dust. Now in a state of disrepair but awaiting resurrection soon...i hope.. Dont see many of these around.

Manish, does the W111 have Gujrat plates, or was it a prior Gujrat car?
