Looks like this car ended up being a parts car of sorts. Found it a while ago at a garage near Electronic City.

Came across something interesting, thought I'd share it here as well.
Here's a R129 Mercedes-Benz 300SL from an industrialist's garage in Chennai. Painted in Malachite Green Metallic, the car has been in Chennai since the last 25 years or so. Last year, it was sent down all the way to Germany, to Schairer Klassiker for a full restoration. Attaching some images very kindly shared by the gents at Schairer and also an image of the car from Chennai by Exoticars_Chennai on Instagram.

Lt General A.A.K. Niazi's Mercedes-Benz W114/W115.



General Niazi was a lieutenant-general in the Pakistan Army and the last Governor of East Pakistan, known for commanding the Eastern Command of the Pakistan Army during the Indo-Pakistani war until the unilateral surrendering on the 16 December 1971.

After the surrender it was driven from Dhaka to Kolkatta and is still used by the Indian Army Commander's fleet.

50 years ago the Pakistani Generals drove around in a Mercedes but even now Indian Generals still drive around in a Safari or Ciaz. No wonder Pakistan is nearly a failed state always asking for funds from the World Bank or Middle Eastern Countries or China.

this was a single owner car till recently, only sold because the elderly owner didn't want to get into the hassle of dealing with cops if stopped because of the 10 year cutoff for diesel vehicles in Delhi. its gone to a good home with able hands. this will live long. lovely car, if it were petrol, it would have been in my garage.

This might be slightly off topic but there seem to be quite a few Merc Sprinter Van's. AFAIK it was not officially sold in India. How did they land here?

Saw this today. Also, has anyone come across a grey W115 in east Bangalore? I've seen it just once and sadly couldn't take a picture. It looked like it just rolled off the factory floor.

I have posted a picture of Sheikh Mukhtar with a new Chevrolet Impala in the thread on Duesenbergs in India as this was bought in lieu of the Duesenberg. (Need to post a link here .....)
Moin Sheikh, his son, has recently brought to my attention the three gents seen with the tall Sheikh in this photograph. These were Bombay locals who dealt with Hundi and currency exchange in those days. Sheikh Mukhtar sb knew them well and trying to use their influence in things coercive, tasked them to buy for him an SSK Mercedes which had hitherto proven elusive to Sheikh sb. These three gents realized there was money to be made in selling the cars abroad and quickly bought the SSK for themselves and equally quickly exported it so that the Sheikh could not create a ruckus. The SSK in question is not identified but my friend Moin says he might be able to locate a photograph which his father kept. The plot thickens. Any idea if this chip fits a bigger jigsaw?

I am not aware of any SSK that came to India. Never say never though!
More likely a SS perhaps ?
