I am shocked with the condition myself, this car was restored in the same garage as my Elegant at the same time infact, there was a intermediatory broker who was getting the work done, to his credit the garage guy put a lot of effort to get the missing bakelite parts redone in MS and that to pretty well, but unfortunately not to my taste. She is a later 180A.

Mole I never told you this but you have good taste in coloring classics although slightly biased to blues..which is not a bad thing. I must consult you if you oblige when I want to choose colors not mention the artistic goan streak

I still think a majority of the discolorations seen is grease. See a similar application on this Ghia cabrio - before and after.

This imposing 500K Mercedes was reportedly the car with Pratap Roy at one point. It was in Bombay for the last few decades I believe, though shown only in the last few years. Any idea who the first owner was - was it a royal family car - where did it originate from?

Sure, I will rephrase - Monsoon has not even begun and the if that is grease majority of it is already gone! Could be rust - Your ghai pics prove the same point

V-16,the shade differences apparent are mainly due to camera angle as you guessed and the W123 is still doing great with the original paint.

It belonged to a royal family of eastern India, but they sold it ages ago to Delhi where she was registered before coming to Mumbai. This state had some other nice cars too.
Yes, first owner was indeed Royalty.

Gondal's car is a 500K, pictured in the book written by Gautam Sen on Mercedes-Benz, Story of the Star in India. They also have a 230/290 or 320.
Bhogilal's car is also from Royalty in Maharashtra, not working because of gear/differential problems?
