Is that a 37/38 Buick in the background? would love to see some more pictures of that car.
You can see the lovely Buick here. Owner (TBHPian) tells me he purchased it from first owner for Rs. 8000 plus cost of cutting the tree growing through it

Well, the family that owned the Buick was a Parsi family living on Ridge Road in Mumbai. They also had a 1.5 Litre Jag now in Lucknow, via Goa. And my mechanic was looking after these cars, more the Jag which was in regular use. One day my mechanic told me about the Buick, he was asked to do it up once, and then again she was locked up. That is how I knew about the Buick and the family who owned it.
About 4 years down the line a friend of mine told me that this Parsi lady had visited them, she was with my friends mother in school together. One day they were invited to thier place, and he saw the Jag and told me. That day I told him to ask for the Buick, which he did not see as she was in the Garage. He maybe felt shy, did not ask, and one day I saw her being towed away. Turned out to be this very car. The price Rs 8000 is correct, but no tree was cut. She was black. The owner is our Bulldogji, he also learnt about restorations the hard way, she was done 2 or 3 times. But a magnificient car!! And now with the right guy!

Cheers harit

Amol,

She is not a 180"a", she's a 180 "b". The "a" never came with the lower broader grille and fatter bumpers.

Prithvi this is a borderline model, I checked the engine no and chassis no and they both confirm she is the absolute last in the "a" series. I had access to all the info on this car as she was being restored next to my Fiat, Originally she also had the optional 15" rims but they were later changed because the garage accidentally ordered 13" BF Goodrich tires $$$

Hello Harit ,

The 1.5 L Jaguar which came to Lucknow via Mumbai has 19" rims welded onto the original 18" rims. Was this done by the last owner.

30's mercedes

an old timer mechanic has said that there was a 1930's model mercedes benz with wire wheels which came from Bombay to Trivandrum about 30 years ago.
He says that the merc was owned by a defence official and later remained unattended in a workshop.the place where the workshop stood became a shopping complex in 1990 itself
harit,wasif,any idea about this mercedes??

Amol,

I never cease to get amazed with the countless exceptions that the Pontons underwent during their production life. I've been researching Pontons for 10 years now and all this while I thought that the fatter bumpers and lower broader grille only came after the 180a and the 190. Good to learn something new. Though I was wondering, if they put the trims on for the 180 "b", why did they still mark it as a 180 "a"? Maybe because the "b" series higher compression engine head was not yet production ready? Any info regarding this?

Regards
Prithvi

Is that LWB 123 AP registered ? If so,then it belonged to a Politico-tycoon from there.
