That is a lovely find there. I just love the style and the statelyness of the car. Absolutely fabulous.

Sunilgee, that is a lovely pair of Mercs. Are they yours? Do tell us more about them, and share more pictures, especially before and after.

Will send you some more pics in a couple of days, unfortunately no before and after pics.
The history of the 300 - first owned by the Chief Minister of Bombay state, the first entry in the RC book is a G.S.Bajpai so I presume its Shri Girija Shankar Bajpai. This connection was narrated to me by a Parsi gentleman I briefly happened to meet at Hyderabad, unfortunately I don't remember his name was about 20 years ago, he was a retired ICS officer, his first posting was as Transport Commissoner of Bombay and he registered this car, he also did mention that the original colour was white and this car replaced a Rolls.I have seen a photograph of a white BM registered car on a Bombay road in an old issue of In Aller Welt, could be the same car. Will post the photo here if I can still find it.
Bought by South India Viscose, Coimbatore in the 70's,sold to Mr.Craig Jones of Bangalore. Bought by yours truly in 1985 after a three year pursuit, a day before my 25th birthday, thanks to the funding and indulgence of two hardcore Mercedes enthusiasts my grandfather and father.

Another 116

116/1974/450 SEL lhd, this car is in excellent condition.Belongs to an enthusiast who is also a dealer, maybe for sale, being very passionate about his cars , often finds it very diffilcult to part with them.

suniljee

Lovely 300 you have, only comment I make is that the exhaust pipe could do with a few inches cutting, or is it the angle of the photograph.
Still a lovely and graceful car.
Can we see some interior and engine photographs, same for the 450, please.

Karl

As far as I know none of the 116 V 8 engines were offered with a column shift, though it was a very very rarely ordered option on the six cylinder cars.
I do vaguely remember a picture of a column shift 116 somewhere on Team BHP.
