Guys the M-606 is the military spec CJ-3B Jeep. It has special specs for the military like special tyres (7.00x16), black-out lights on the fenders, a vacum operated wiper on the driver's side and a manual, hand operated wiper on the passenger's side amongst other things

Gogi Bhai / Speedy / Stanher / Karlosdeville - I feel miserable. In 1982 when I was a Junior Engineer in M&M Kandivli, I had picked up a LEFT HAND DRIVE CJ3B RCL GUN CARRIER (RCL means recoilless). I had it registered. It was MMH1665. Sorry but I sold it after a few years. The last I saw it was in 1994 when it was a long wheelbase RHD converted taxi outside Palghar station.

Incidentally, the RCL RHD and LHD prototypes and it's BOM (Bills of Material) were made by me and my colleague of that time Mr.A.B.Somani who still works in Kandivli. The vehicles were prototyped in the R&D workshop in Kandivli plant (fondly called Kaka's Garage as there used to be a Mr.A.C.Mahale working there (kaka to all of us). We prepared many vehicles for Iran as well (all LHD), with the Peugeot XN1P / XM7P petrol engines and also with the Mitsubishi 4G54 engine.

In 1981, we had prepared a Golden coloured CJ3B with the Peugeot XDP4.90 diesel engine and the 3 speed gearbox and sent it to California for the Auto Show. In 1982, we sent a similar vehicle to London. These were the first M&M vehicles to be equipped with hazard lights as it had become compulsary in Europe then.

2 people from M&M participated in the "Jeepers Jamboree" in USA in 1982. They were Mr.Sushil Waman Welingkar (now retired) and Mr.Vijay Dandge (now working as Vice President - Quality Control).

Alassssssssssss ---------- times move on -----------

I still wish I could lay my hands on an LHD RCL.

Best regards,

Behram Dhabhar

Mr Behram i have a RHD M&M RCL gun carrier and would sure need all the help to restore her. if you do have the time and it is not too much of a bother i would like to seek your advice. the car was bought years ago and has kept being shelved after starting as it never got importance compared to the other cars. finally my father has given me two choices either to give the car away or finish the work when its number comes. so i would need all the help to keep it as original as possible. thank you
