Im told the battery, radiator and dynamo are missing. I suspected this earlier too, as my Standard 10 had gone through a similar experience, as did a couple of cars of my friends. So fortunately no major damage, everything is easily reversible. Im told the parts were removed with extreme precision, nothing yanked out in a hurry. The tools used for this are still in the car.

Please install a GPS tracker in the car. 50-60 USD is much cheaper than the agony you've experienced so far.

The car is parked on the road outside the owners residence on the (ground floor), so it is parked just 10 feet away from his door. The road is a very narrow and always empty bylane. The car was found missing that morning, and was found parked neatly at the side of a main road about 3-4kms away today morning.

The radiator and dynamo uses brass / copper which is quite expensive, so it seems to be the work of someone who would sell the material after breaking the parts apart. Don't know about the battery though. Tell the police to look for obvious spots where such scrap gets sold.

Best regards,

It is a scrap metal racket that has been going on for the last 15 years that I have seen, am sure it goes beyond that as well. If they haven't done anything in the last 15 years, I dont think they would bother doing much now. When my Standard was stolen in the 90s my aunt had a difficult time registering the complaint because they thought there is no such car by the name "Standard".

Lead prices have increased as well, which is why new and second hand battery prices have shot up as well. But in the end this whole exercise is for a petty amount of a couple thousand maximum I guess.

Congrats on getting back the car!!
And yeah I guess you owe it to veldeep! Now that's unity for us!

Atleast I hope none of the original cosmetic parts were nicked although pity about the parts that were!

Our community simply never fails to amaze me. The collective power of BHPians is far bigger than the scope of our thoughts.

Thanks Veldeep. And congratulations Karl.

Wow! This is really amazing.
I just can't believe that the Team has done it. The first time I saw this thread I prayed that this car may come back in one piece. I also wished that some Bhpian will find it.

Voila! That has happened here.
Kudos to Team-bhp! Well done Veldeep.
Congratulations Karl.
