Interesting pictures of the Fiat before restoration.

Quote:
Recently I visited Docs place in Bangalore. I took a pic of his Fiat as she is today. Here are other pics of the car before he bought it. I could not afford at that time. About 6 years ago when I was in Bangalore on work, there was a Rally and I drove this car throughout the route. Even got a pic in the newspapers. Many people will know, some may not, the accelerator is in the center and one has to concentrate, also you can confuse the 1st and reverse gear. It happened only once to me and fortunately no one was behind me.

@ Dominator : You Didn't answer my question. Wanted to know if you still have all the bikes you've posted pics of. Would love to see the Indian.[/quote]

That's a regular Herald 1200, from the looks of it. No chance it's a Vitesse.

There's another Mark II Herald with a Vitesse style front lying around somewhere.

A few years ago, we had a very interesting event in Bangalore. It was a 2 lap race, each lap measuring @ 1.5 km. Four corners, all right hand, with slight uphill at the start of the second corner. This was at IAF, Yelahanka.

There has been a demand for more events like this, but getting permission is a problem.

Nice pics, I remember being told about this. Permission is a problem because the facilitator retired soon after the event. I think there was a motorcycle race as well, won by a friend.

As I said earlier, maybe it got fitted with a Vitesse bonnet as from the interior it appears to be a 1200 herald. Looking at the rest of the car would help me tell better.

As for the mk2, they did come with Vitesse style bonnets only, so did the mk3 (4-door)

Was the mk2 you saw lying in a colony at wilson gardens btw?

Lovely, lovely pictures dominator. What an event it must've been ! By the way, I can see a Citroen 2CV there. Is there a working 2CV in Bangalore ? Would love to see her someday .

Indeed it is. Pune has a couple of working cars too, Bombay has one working and one non working 2CV van.

Yes, the Air Marshall retired soon after. But even otherwise Jakkur is available, but no events have been held in the last 2 years. Will add pictures of the motorcycle. Are you referring Karthik ?

Like all our events, it got flagged from town and we all landed up at IAF by 10am, for the event. We called it the Vintage Race.

There are quite a few around. I will be posting pictures of various events around Bangalore and you can see it for yourself. The one pictured is a daily use car and the story is,when the war broke out in 1990/91,the owner drove the car down from Kuwait.

That's strange, as it has a very early Indian regn, much before the 90s
