MSTR seen on a 1940s Ford truck, said to be a Travancore registration. We've hardly seen any of these.

it was TRV, followed by MSTR in 1947, followed by TCT(Travancore COCHIN)in 1950 and KLT,KLQ,KLK etc in 1956

Here is a Fleetmaster participating in some convoy, note the old style J&K registrations. Wonder till when they were issued, I assume atleast the 1950s

This piece appeared in Blitz newspaper, March 1st 1969. It shows damage to two police cars, BMX 3000, the 1954 Dodge of Commissioner Modak, and BML 3647, the 1955 Dodge of Deputy Commissioner Ramamurthy. Incidentally I am fortunate to own Commissioner Modak's personal 1963 Fiat.

It is also interesting to see the 1940s BMX series appearing on a much later car - I assume for Govt. vehicles these VIP numbers were re-assigned, we have seen similar cases on a few other cars as well.

Also in the same film note the style of writing registration numbers for a couple of the Ambys - J&K 261 A, which I assume is the same as JKA 261?

I would think Punjab (undivided India).

By sheer coincidence, in the opening credits of the film 'Raja Jani' we see the same 1955 Dodge wagon BML 3647.

In the movie CID, a 1947/48 DeSoto gets its plates changed to foil the cops chase. For a second this closeup appears of the original plates - such lovely casting, thought I'd share.



The BMZ series was probably 1949/50?

The Gaganbawda 1935 Ford V8, sports KOP registration, which I understand is Kolhapur
