I got the picture somewhere on Team-BHP.
Many thanks. That car is a 56/57, as twin tailpipes were introduced in 56, and oval window discontinued after 57. Interestingly this car too has a later engine lid, taillights and front indicators - just like mine.I got my decklid corrected though.

There are at least 2 more Oval windowed bugs in Goa that I know of, 1 more recently left for a large Delhi collection. A very well preserved example is with Baretto. Then there are a couple more in Goa but badly modified including cutting the trademark window, so I dont count them.

Do you refer to a yellow one that used to be sitting on the roadside outside a garage at Baghlingampally X-roads? It had a Madras state regn.- MDB 508. 'had seen it a number of times whenever I passed through that area, between '98 to I think 2002-03. It looked quite complete on the outside (including the correct rear numberplate light) but terribly junking away and falling apart slowly.....now, before anyone questions me, I was just an Inter student back then, so no question of my parents letting me buy it! :(
Parked in front of it was a stripped Fiat select/s.select covered in red oxide (maybe an abandoned project), which also disappeared later.
That area has a number of garages, even in the lane next to it, and there is a 'naala' adjacent to it as well.

Any more details on it? And location? I could try and check out if it still exists.

Hey there Stanher.

Now let me try and figure out where I saw the said cars. The Oval was white somewhere in Shantinagar if I remember correct.

The split was in Sanathnagar in a factory.

'was sent a couple of pics. of this 50s Lambretta 150 d that may have been exported by now. And while there wasn't much to admire in the scoot, I noticed the curious regn.- I can guess that it's from J&K but did they have regns. like these? Anyone who could throw more light on this?

I thought maybe Union Territories like Andaman etc. have had different regns. from the normal ones that prevailed in most states.

Calcutta cars those days (my younger days) had WB/A B C D etc. When I bought my Amby, it had a Bihar registration (BRT 688) because it was in Jamshedpur.

Well, J&K is from Jammu & Kashmir obviously. Initially the series ran just JK 1234, then JKA 1234 etc, this is the first time I see JK 1234 A.
Prominent JK registered car I have seen was a 1952 Plymouth station wagon woody. Another was a maroon/black Buick Super 8 probably 1947 in Delhi.
Union territory Chandigarh also had CH for a while, but Goa was always with three alphabets, GDA etc. I always wondered why they did not issue GOA, in this case it was a possibility

To which state does the MRA 1717 belongs to ?
It is a Vespa 150 standing in my building's compound for years !
The scooter has not been moved for years, almos 4-5 years.

To which state does the BTI 5361 belongs to ?
It is a Bajaj Cub (Scooter - Electronic 12V) of my uncle's friend.

MRA is definitely around 1967, Bombay. BTI is probably Nasik, 80s. Not sure though.

This Austin belonged to my great grand uncle, probably in Madras. His first car.

Cedric and others, can you explain the registration?

Early registration numbers in India-untitled.jpg

Also we all know this as a baby Austin, but can someone correctly identify the exact model and year? There were so many variations. This car appears to have side window frames? Can't tell if the car is a hardtop.
