Karl,

It would have been a TRV number (Travancore State) if it was registered in Kearla in 1947. The KL series started from 1951 only and the TRV was then all reregistered as KL.

Then the car should have had an earlier number as the KLT 54xx is from 1962-63. So possibily this car came to Trivandrum/Kerala only in 1960s and before that this would have had some other registration - poassibly a Madras State Registration - MD series ?

Does that car belong to the palace fleet ?

It was later took over by Merryland cinemas and then to Mumbai by 2000.

Any confirmations ?

Foby,

The Merryland Studio connection is possible. As the RTO records show one P. Subramoniam as owner at one point of time (even now in the website). Now that you have asked this question I think the car in question could have been with Merryland and its owner and the legendary Malayalam Film Director - Mr. P Subramoniam

First of all TRV series was there only upto 1950.From then(following integration of Travancore and Cochin) there was the TCT, TCK etc.KLT,KLQ,KLR,etc began from November 1956 only.
Regarding this particular Buick Convertible it could have come to Subramanyam from the palace fleet and as mentioned much earlier in this forum it has featured in many malayalam movies and later it was owned by the Stanes motors managers family (along with the KLV1432 Buick).it left Kerala in 2000-2001 period

The king is generous, Kerala lose 1 Plymouth to Darmastala ! Glad that its in safe hands. Fingers crossed .sad to see officially losing a classic from a royal family.
