That is parked in front of Government Engineering College, Thrissur and the photograph is flipped. It is a real shame that an Engineering College with an Automobile Department is letting it rot away.

edit : Ok, they have no automobile department and no petrol heads as well.

The Trivandrum Engineering College (CET) had one of these (a Tata M-B) as well. The story goes that it was laid up by sabotage in the 70's, after grinding compound was added to the diesel - during a student strike.

It was revived around 1980-81; and was doing yeoman service. Wonder where it is today!

Thampy's garage in trivandrum is a workshop that deals with old benz cars. My father's friend used to take his 240D there.Pristine vintage cars can be found there

I am sorry to say this Jaisha8, but I don't think this pic should be here.

There is something not quiet right with the picture. The picture you have posted is definitely not of a "original" 1966 Wiilys Jeep.

May be its a 1966 Willys retro modeled to look like a 1953 one or earlier. The Jeep CJ3 models (high bonnet) started production in 1954 or so, if I am not mistaken. Experts here can clarify this better.

If its indeed a 1966 model, I really wish it had been restored to its original and if so, it could have found a place in thread as a "classic". As per RTO records, this one is running a diesel engine as well (which definitely is a non original modification)

The replica/retro mod is nicely done though.

Best Regards & Drive Safe

Ram

fully agree with you.But the trend these days is that some people think anything that is few years old and something that looks '' period '' will suffice as Vintage /Classic .Advertisements are there saying Vintage opel astra, vintage Esteem etc....

Classics of Travancore, Cochin and Malabar-trivandrum-secretatriat-studebaker-maybe.jpg

Looks very much like a 1956 Studebaker Wagon.

And that too with some "Department" Plate ?

Interesting juxtaposition with a hand pulled rickshaw!

THampys garage was started in 1997 in Killipalam. At that time lot of imported cars were there. It was relocated to Chakai in 2001 and then it used to have a lot of benz cars(w123,124,201,etc).But it was never a place for repair of vintage cars.

It is likely a 1951-52 Chevrolet. We had a 1950 (KLT-501).
